How to think about content

Hey there.

Yesterday was a personal day.

One of those days I take off just to be by myself...

Except this time I wasn't by myself.

I hung out with a very good friend who was kind enough to be there for me exactly the way I needed.

At some point she took the picture below:

Take a good look at my eyes.

I'm smiling but my eye tell a whole different story.

I'm not suffering.

I'm not in pain.

But the total story of my life's experience over the past few months...

Can be read in my eyes..

If...

You're paying attention.

Enjoy it while it lasts...

Cos I'll be fixing that soon.

****Now hold that thought. I'll come back to this***

Last week when we held our first of a series of trainings for buyers of my book the "Tribemasters Practice"...

During that class...

I shared that as Tribemasters our goal for sharing content online isn't to:

Inform...

Educate...

Entertain..

Or inspire...

We do all that no doubt...

But as Tribemasters...

The real goal is to first engineer trust...

Then second earn it...

And third keep it.

*STOP*

READ THAT AGAIN☝🏾☝🏾☝🏾☝🏾

Don't worry...

I'm not going anywhere.

I'll wait.

Done?

Good.

Focusing on educating, informing, inspiring and entertaining your audience will earn you trust...

But your probably looking at 6 months to a year and sometimes even longer than that.

To borrow from the wisdom of the Uber smart John Obidi...

Life is too short to spend earning trust.

The smart thing to do is collapse the time it takes to have people extend trust to you...

And the way to do that is to engineer it.

How do you engineer it?

You do that by leveraging content to showcase:

  1. Character
  2. Competence
  3. Consistency

These three well done can create trust in a matter of days and in some cases minutes.

During the training I had an amazing lady speak up and say she'd only discovered me literally that evening...

She went down a rabbit hole of content and paused her plans for the evening to show up at the training...

And for the first time...

Felt she'd finally found home.

At that point of I put anything in front of her and simply said: these are your next steps..

I wouldn't even need a conversation with her to get a buy.

Trust is a powerful thing.

And the gateway to trust is attention.

******back to the picture of my tires eyes****

It was my friend who pointed out my eyes to me and said - it tells quite a story.

I've sat in front of a number of people. And most would not have noticed or paid attention.

This is because...

We all are primarily self focused.

And...

When we're online and sharing content...

We're so focused on ourselves, our needs and our wants...

We forget that we're there first and foremost to get the trust of people who resonate with our message.

So start paying attention.

That's how you get attention.

You get attention because you know what the real issues are and so you can be relevant to your market.

Once you get attention, the way to engineer trust is to share content.

Like I share early...

The trick to content is:

  1. Showcasing character: are you a good person.
  2. Showcasing competence: Do you know your stuff
  3. Showcasing Consistency: Are you dependable.

The Tribemaster Messaging matrix is a strategy for showcasing just that is a way that is meaningful, relevant and engaging.
