Hey there,

So yesterday there was a lot of shenanigans at house Victor Ekpo Bassey.

Apparently my youngest decided she wasn't going to wait till she was 18yrs to attend her first rave - so she invented one: a pyjamas rave in my living room of all places.

The invites go out impromptu...

And the shopping for rave material kicks off...

And what's a rave without some food and drinks for when your legs can't dance no more?

By 7pm yesterday all was set.

One last round of invites and cajoling and we were all ready to rock and roll (literally in my case).

And rock and roll we did - all through to midnight.

Fun for us.

Not so much for our neighbors who were really concerned about what sprits had come over the mild natured House Victor Ekpo Bassey led by the arguably loveable grand puba:Yours truly.

Here's the point of this.

My daughter wanted something: attend a rave party.

There were assumptions fed to here by her mother and I: Thou shalt not attend a rave till thou be'est 18+

That meant 6 more years for her.

A few nights before she'd heard me talking over the phone about doing in 3 months what you initially thought would take you 12mths with a prospect.

After the call she cozied up to me and asked in her sweetest voice: Papa does that work for everybody or just adults with money.

I told her it worked for every one and then gave her a crash course on creating the impossible or Simple Radical Change as the wonderful Nike Ajayi would say.

In The Way of The Tribemaster we call that a Quantum Leap Experience.

Anyways...

With some help and tons of questions she created a futureframe that was a 13 year old who regularly went to raves.

A future frame is simply an identity based on a preferred future self.

Once that was set I simply sat back and watched her do her thing.

First...

She did some research on raves and discovered surprise surprise that raves are parties...

Some how she never made that connection before then.

So she adjusted her future frame to a 13yr old we created fun raves that people love.

That was her first breakthrough: if raves are parties she could create her own party with all ingredients that made it safe and not have to wait till she was 18yrs.

Next she made a list of things she would no longer cater to if she wanted to be organizing raves that her parents wouldn't fight her over.

Here's the rather cute list:

1. I cannot be irresponsible
2. I cannot be messy
3. I cannot do this alone.

Based on this she drafts her eldest Sister and Mother to help and then breaks open her money box.

For her being responsible meant footing the bills.

So she pays for everything: N48,000 in total (Lill girl boss move right there)

Finally she focused 100% on what she wanted: a fun rave party.

And she stayed flexible till she got exactly what she wanted: no pouting. no tantrums.

3 days later.

She's made happen what she thought would only happen in 6 years.

When it was all over - she cleaned up every thing.

And then asked if we could talk.

Curious I agreed and didn't send her off to bed pronto.

Guess what was on her mind?

Hosting themed day time raves for teenagers and having parents pay for it.

I could tell her future self was locking in hard.

So I said sure: go for it.

Her eyes lit up. Gave me the biggest hug ever and "Thanks mi Padre".

I only get a "Thanks mi Padre" when I've done good.

My lill girl had just engineered a Quantum Leap Experience in 3 days.

She accomplished in 3 days what she initially thought would take her 6 years.
