How To Get So Good You Can't Be Ignore

It's the Chief Tribemaster Here...
If there's anything that's going to protect you in
these scary times...
If there's anything that's actually going to make sure that
you are recession proof...
If there's anything that's going to ensure that you survive
and thrive in these times...
It's this: KNOWING YOUR STUFF
Think about it...
When things are easy and the economy good...
You can get away with being mediocre...
But when times are tough and cash harder to come by...
Not knowing your stuff is literally the kiss of death.
I had a conversation with an "influencer" a few weeks back...
For the sake of decency I won't mention her name...
She has a bazillion followers on instagram...
And last year made a lot of money selling her "courses"
to her teeming followers...
I'm talking about N15million in sales...
All that in the midst of complaints from her customers about
the quality of her programs...
And her general attitude towards people.
Fast forward to a few weeks ago and her income has all but disappeared...
Her people are just not buying any more...
All of a sudden she's forced to realize that simply downloading a course
online...
And duplicating it as your own might bring in money...
But in the long run...
You don't know what you don't know and even though you fool people for
a while...
People are not stupid...
Sooner or later...
You'll be found out.
Anyways...
In our conversation I shared a few ideas with her for redeeming
herself and her income over the next few weeks...
I figured I might as well share the same with you.
So...
What does it mean to be so good that you can't be ignored?
Basically it means you have competence at three levels...
First it means that you get really good at communicating the value of what
you bring to the table...
It's one thing for you to know your stuff...
It's another for people to know that you know your stuff...
But to get them to remember that they know that you know your stuff is
a whole different animal...
Have you ever been in that slightly awkward situation where your very good
friend recommends someone other than you for something you've told them
and proved to them that you do?
We've all been there in one way or the other...
Baring the actual fact that you said friend might not actually be your friend
afterall...
The challenge more often than not is that we haven't communicated the
value of what we do in a way that is memorable enough...
In other words...
The problem isn't your skill level...
The problem is your pitch.
So that's where it starts...
Being good enough...
Is not good enough...
If you don't know how to pitch how good you are.
Second it means that you are really good at packaging your expertise and life
experience into valuable intellectual property.
If you've followed my work for any length of time...
You'll know by now that I'm no longer an advocate of personal branding.
Now don't get me wrong...
I of all people know just how powerful it is to be perceived as a celebrity
in your field...
I also know for a fact that from a pure leverage point of view...
Focusing purely on building your personal brand is setting yourself up for
glorified slave labor.
Rather than build a personal brand...
Build a brand as a champion of a specific message, framework or methodology.
When you do that...
You instantly have leverage and the capacity to scale your work without additional
effort on your part...
That's what I call Movement Based Branding™.
With Movement Based Branding™ you literally position yourself to grow as fast
and as big as you want and on your own terms...
It's the ability to do work you like..
With people you like...
How you like...
And when you like...
That my friend is what I call power.
When it comes to intellectual property...
There are two things to keep in mind...
There's the foundational intellectual property that is at the core of everything
that you do in the market place...
I call that your Distinct Solution System™.
And there's the intellectual property that is the base of your of each individual
product offerings...
I call that your SolutionFrame™...
SolutionFrames™ are what you get when you see a well designed program
Your Distinct Solution System™ and your SolutionFrame™ are the core
intellectual properties you have to be really great at creating if you want
to really stand out in the market place...
Third...It means you have to be very good with people
Most of us forget that in the final analysis...
The expert business and business in general is all about: PEOPLE.
Like I've said over and over again...
You are literally one person away...
From your breakthrough...
From the achievement of your dreams...
From the business and level of influence that you want...
Everything you want..
Is literally in the custody of someone else..
And if you don't get good at understanding and building rapport
with people...
You'll not only be short changing yourself...
You'll be setting yourself up for a lot of pain...
So how do you get good with people?
There's a lot of things to do...
But these four should get you to a fast start:
- Do what you say you'll do
- Finish what you start
- Say please and thank you
- Always show up on time
You really don't need a Phd to do these....
And it doesn't mean that you'll always get it right...
But do these often enough and you'll be ok...
