Hey there!
Yesterday was insane...
But I totally enjoyed every moment of it...
Got to connect with the super amazing @alexunsual of BBN fame...
Hung out with goal smashing platinum member - Jamila
Spent a small part of my evening with another goal smashing platinum member - Nike
Connected with a pretty cool waitress who refused to go kizomba dancing with me..
#sigh
Apparently my smashing good looks didn't do anything for her...

Facilitated a workshop...
Left the country briefly at about 10pm and sneaked back in at about 5am this morning
All whilst having meetings and working my winsh (Nigerian for magic) with people...
The only not so perfect thing about yesterday...
Was not meeting my 2pm deadline...
Please blame sendfox and Jamila for that.
That said...
I am sorry it arrived late.
Apparently sendfox still has delivery issues.
Yesterday...
We started a conversation about the unseen consequences of our choices...
And how choosing to "learn" from our failures limits us.
And I promised to share a story with you that further drove home the points I hope I made yesterday...
So here goes...
I typically have more ideas than I care to run with...
So what I tend to do once a client proves that they can be trusted...
Is partner with them to launch a new venture...
With them as the face of it...
And me handling the delivery and intellectual property side of things.
It's an arrangement that works most of the time...
But there was this one time...
Just 11 months into our new business...
We crossed N30million a quarter...part time.
Without any paid advertising.
That doesn't mean it was easy...
That's just the way it was.
Anyways...
Naturally we got excited about the potential...
And decide to exchange our lifestyle and behavior based goals for purely revenue and income goals...
Up to that point we'd only focused on what I refer to as MKPs (My Kinda People)
Everything was set up purely for lifestyle..
And the agreement was if this "thing" starts to bring headaches...
We quit period.
The moment we made the switch to focusing on the money...
Things changed...
Clients started struggling and complaining...
Partners started disappointing...
Stuff just started happening that we couldn't understand at the time (Dynamic complexities)
Here's the truth...
And it’s not easy to write this.
But...
I think it’s necessary to share with you...
We went outside our non negotiables...
And that led to us making a series of bad decisions that looked like great decisions at the time because our revenue was blowing up...
We thought we were on a solid thing and acted accordingly...
Focusing on short term benefits and consequences...
If we didn't have the sense to track back to our non negotiables...
We would still be blaming those bad enrollment decisions on the industry and quality of clients enrolled.
Results can be very deceptive.
Just because you're getting what you want now...
Doesn't mean you're not creating a big problem for yourself right now and later..
When we see an improvement in the quality of our results...
It's very easy to assume we're doing the right thing...
The smart thing to do is track back to your non negotiables in order to know for sure if you're on track...
That's pretty much what saved our partnership...
Question:
How many consequences are you blaming on other people that are coming from your decisions somewhere else in space and time?
Another question:
Are the results you're currently producing costing you something you value more?
Think about that this weekend whilst I stuff my face with food.
