The danger of half a story

May 16, 2024 7:57 am

Hey there

So yesterday..

Whilst leisurely strolling down the hilarious streets of facebook...

I came across a post by a brilliant client of mine: John Obidi, founder of Headstart Africa - arguably the largest African youth focused personal and business development community in West Africa.

The post said:

Life is too short for organic growth - John Obidi, 647 BC

(BY THE WAY: John gave context to what he meant by the statement, what I'm doing here is giving added perspective if you're thinking of building a practice.)

As always...

The fun and entertainment was in the comments.

It's a pretty catchy phrase.

I mean...

Why wait forever when you can speed things up?

Here's a great question to consider: Is it the whole truth?

Grab a coffee and let's dive into why going all-in on that mindset might not be the best move.

As tempting as it may be to put all your eggs in the paid strategy basket, I'm here to tell you that finding the perfect balance between organic and paid growth is the real secret sauce to long-term success.

Why Organic Growth Is Still Your Best Friend

Picture this: you're building a house.

You could rush the process and skimp on the foundation, but you know that's a recipe for disaster.

The same goes for your coaching or consulting practice.

Organic growth might seem slow, but it's the foundation of a wildly successful and highly profitable global practice.

Here's why:

When you focus on organic growth, you're building genuine relationships with your audience.

They get to know the real you, and that trust is priceless.

Plus...

Organic strategies are easier on your wallet.

You don't need to break the bank on ads to make an impact.

And...

As you connect with your audience organically...

You gain valuable insights into their needs and preferences.

This intel is gold for tailoring your offerings.

Now, I'm not saying you should swear off paid strategies.

Far from it!

The real magic happens when you find the sweet spot between organic and paid.

And the key to nailing that balance lies in understanding your unique Tribemaster Archetype.

The Four Tribemaster Archetypes: Which One Are You?

  1. The Connector: You thrive on building deep, meaningful relationships.
  2. The Celebrity: You're all about inspiring and empowering others with your vision.
  3. The Creator: Breaking down complex ideas into digestible bits is your superpower.
  4. The Change Maker: You've got a knack for spotting trends and creating game-changing solutions.

Once you've identified your archetype, you can start creating a growth strategy that plays to your strengths.

Here's something else...

Speed and velocity are not the same thing.

Speed is going fast.

Velocity is going fast in a clear predefined direction.

It's important for you to be clear and certain about your direction before you start considering collapsing the time it takes to get you there.

There are many games you can play when it comes to building an audience.

But when it comes to building a wildly successful and highly profitable global practice...

Is a function of who you are, your unique situation and your goals.

Finding Your Perfect Balance: Tips for Each Archetype

The Connector

For you, it's all about nurturing those personal connections.

Focus on attending events, networking, and engaging with your audience on a deep level.

Share your story and client successes on social media to build trust and authenticity.

When it comes to paid strategies, go for the personal touch.

Think retargeting ads and lead magnets that allow you to nurture relationships.

Collaborate with others for joint events or webinars...

And use email marketing to grow your list and connect with personalized messages.

Your balancing act is all about blending the personal with the scalable.

Use ads to attract people to your orbit...

Then wow them with your authentic, relationship-building magic.

BUT....

Only after validating your framework.

The Celebrity

You shine brightest when you're in the spotlight.

Look for speaking gigs at conferences, webinars, and podcasts.

Share inspirational content and behind-the-scenes glimpses on social media, and work on getting featured in media organically to boost your profile.

For paid strategies, focus on brand awareness campaigns on social media and ads to amplify your visibility.

Partner with media outlets for sponsored content and join forces with influencers for cross-promotion.

Your balancing act is about magnifying your vision.

Use ads to showcase your mission and drive traffic to your organic content.

Inspire and engage with your organic social media presence, then leverage paid ads to grow your community even further.

Again - validate your framework before scaling.

The Creator

Your sweet spot is creating and sharing valuable content that educates and informs.

Publish blog posts, videos, and podcasts, and make sure your content is SEO-friendly and easy to find.

Share your content across multiple platforms to maximize your reach.

When it comes to paid strategies, focus on promoting your top-performing content.

Use ads to boost your best pieces and promote new courses or books.

Explore affiliate marketing partnerships to expand your reach and showcase your products.

Your balancing act is all about leveraging your content.

Create exceptional resources and use paid promotion to get them in front of more people.

Build trust with your organic content, then use targeted ads to convert and expand your impact.

Again...

Validate your framework first.

The Change Maker

Thought leadership is where you thrive.

Publish insightful articles and reports, and engage in niche communities and forums to establish your authority.

Look for opportunities to speak at events and position yourself as an innovator.

For paid strategies, focus on promoting webinars and events.

Use ads to drive attendance and create campaigns that generate interest.

Use targeting to reach people who are hungry for your cutting-edge ideas.

Your balancing act is about showcasing your innovative solutions.

Share fresh perspectives organically and use ads to reach a wider audience.

Build a loyal following with your thought leadership, and scale your impact with paid strategies.

Case in point is me: I'm a change maker.

Again...

Validate your framework first.

The Bottom Line

While "life's too short for organic growth" is a catchy phrase, it doesn't tell the whole story.

As coaches and consultants, we need to embrace the power of both organic and paid growth strategies.

By understanding your Tribemaster Archetype and finding the right balance...

You can build a wildly successful and highly profitable global practice that matters.

By the way...

Each time I say validate your framework first - I mean validate your Solutionframe, your process for delivering your transformation to your clients.
