[TDM] Getting the most from the market you serve
Jan 19, 2022 7:01 am
Hey there
Here's a very important thought..
The boat you're in is far more important than how hard you row.
Imagine for a minute if you will that you're the best rower in the world and own the best canoe in the world...
And you come up against me...
Only I'm not in a canoe...
I'm in a speed boat.
#cuesevillaugh
I don't care how powerfully you row or if you have a hundred people powering your canoe...
I'll leave you so far behind you'd be imagining that you're first!!
Ability is great...
Talent is awesome...
And you also have to have the right strategy and approach to your market.
Back when I started out...
I was sold the idea that I needed to decide on a niche..
And as I grew...
I realized that whilst that idea was great in the 90s...
In today's world...
And especially if you're building a practice...
A better strategy is not to focus on a niche...
Rather focus on delivering a specific result...
Focus on being the go to person for solving a very specific problem?
Why?
Because focusing on being the go to guy for solving specific problems...
Gives you leverage...
It enables you to do one thing and yet access multiple different markets.
So...
It's message first...
Not market first...
So how do you pick the right problem?
Well here's the thing...
There are typically 4 results people generally pay for:
They'll pay you to help them...
Make money...
Save money....
Stay our of trouble...
Live a better life...
That's pretty much it.
If you solve a problem in any one of these categories...
You'll have access to multiple market.
Think about that..
Till tomorrow.
Play a bigger game.
