Why No One Cares About Your Expertise—Yet

Mar 13, 2025 7:12 am

Hey ,

So yesterday I got on my high horse and started a sermon about mastery...

My righteous indignation was sparked by the all night experience I had with my lill girl and my gratitude for taking the time to actually learn to be a father...

Yup...

Fatherhood is a role you step into but it's also a skill you learn deliberately just like anything else...

And I was pretty fortunate I had fathers around me who though they weren't perfect...

Loved me enough to help me understand that roles demand skills.

But enough about me and my opportunities...

Let's talk about you...

Let’s get real.

Most “experts” aren’t actually experts.

They’re just good enough to sound credible...

Until a real master walks in the room.

If that stings a little, good.

It means you’re not here to blend in.

Because in today’s market, being “good” isn’t enough.

If you’re not irreplaceable, you’re forgettable.

And no amount of content...

Branding tricks...

Or viral posts will save you from the next wave of louder, shinier distractions.

Mastery is the only way out.

It’s the difference between those who impress people…

And those who get paid.

But here’s the real problem...

Most people don’t master their craft.

They plateau.

They recycle ideas, repackage old concepts, tweak a little here and there...

But they never push past the edge into real depth.

The result?

They drown in a sea of sameness while true masters rise.

So, how do you cross the gap?

How do you go from good to undeniable?

I break it all down in today’s email:

📌 Stage 1: Imitation (Where Most People Stop Thinking)

You copy, you mimic, you internalize the best.

But stay here too long?

You become just another echo in the noise.

📌 Stage 2: Friction (Where Most People Give Up)

You start questioning everything...

Frameworks....

Best practices....

Even your own ideas.

It’s uncomfortable.

Most retreat.

But if you push through?

You build something original.

📌 Stage 3: Authority (Where People Start Paying You for Thinking Differently)

You stop explaining and start predicting.

You own your space.

When you speak, people listen.

📌 Stage 4: The Tribemaster Level (Where You Set the Standard)

The market stops comparing you to others....

Because you are now the benchmark.

People don’t just learn from you…

They follow your way.

Most never get to Stage 4.

But those who do?

They never compete again.

Here’s the hard truth:

You don’t get paid for effort. You get paid for depth.

Want to be unignorable?

Go deeper.

The market is waiting.

Here's something else though...

When I started working with my mentor...

She told me something my father had always said:

Coups are only possible when a nobody is on the throne. So forget about starting at the bottom of the market and working your way up - start at the top or as close to the top as possible.

What does that mean for you?

Well...

The question isn’t whether you can start at the top.

You absolutely can.

The question is whether you’re willing to do what’s required to stay there.

And if you are?

Then stop hesitating.

Step up. Crown yourself. Own it.

Because if you don’t...

Someone else will.

And if that person is me....

Ready to master your craft?

Hit reply and tell me:

What’s one area of your expertise you’re ready to take to the next level?

Let’s make it happen.

Tomorrow I share with you a few strategies for starting at the top and a private mastery event I'm hosting next week...

Till then...

Get out of your own way.

P.S. If you’re serious about mastery, stop competing on visibility. Compete on excellence. The world will notice.
