Don't be mean but snap them out of it.

You can't want a client to shift more than they do. 

If you spend most of your time telling clients what to do and how to think...

That says more about you than them.

Assume your client is more powerful than they know.

They're not broken.

They don't need fixing.

Help your client see the world that they're creating for themselves.

Then step out of the way and let them make their own choices.
