Keep the main thing the main thing

Jan 07, 2024 7:55 am

Hey there!

Last night...

I got news that a friend had passed.

I'd only just chatted with her a few days back.

It reminded me how important it is to stay

focused on the things that really matter.

In the end...

Most of the things that drive us nuts about

the key relationships in our lives...

Are actually not that important.

But more often than not we prioritize those

things over the the person...

It's only when we finally lose them that we

realize that we'd gladly have a lifetime of their

quirks...

Than lose them before we are ready to let them go.

Now don't get me wrong...

I'm not one for condoning bad treatment from

anyone...

No matter how much I love you.

But...

That's very different from fusing over why

they squeeze toothpaste out from the tube

from the bottom, middle or top of the tube!

I have a practice that's helped me stay ground.

It's that of consistent and neverending self reflection.

Diligently holding up the mirror and taking a

Good look at myself and checking to be sure

I am proud of the man I see in the mirror.

I'd like to share that with you and hopeful...

It'll be something we can do together.

But first some context...

I think in terms of two weeks sprints.

I only focus on what I can get done over the next two weeks.

And I index towards 4 sets of two weeks sprints...

In order words...

I plan and set defined intentions over a 60day

period....two weeks at a time.

I think of each two week sprint as a quarter and the whole 60day period as a year.

With that frame in mind...

It's pretty possible for me to get done in 60day more that most get done a year or sometimes 4 years.

Why 60days?

Well why not?

I use to be all about the 90day frame...but I realize the brain works with the time you give it...

Why do in 90days what I could possibly do in 60days...

Plus...

There's new studies to back this up...

I call it the 60dayyear™.

But I wouldn't get into that just yet...

Right now...

All I want is for us to start a practice of evaluating and planning our the next two weeks...

Ready?

You're going to need a journal for this...

Step 1: What wins, breakthroughs, successes did you achieve in the past two weeks?

Note: It's vitally important to catalogue your progress. It's so easy to lose sight of how far you've come and how well you're doing when you focus on what's not yet been done.

Step 2: What have you learned?

Note: What have you learned in the past two weeks about yourself and people and how you do things. This wisdom helps you create more clarity and certain, ultimately collapsing time for you and others. It's money when deployed properly.

Step 3: How will you put what you have learned to use in the next 14 days?

Note: This is vitally important. Especially if you want to monetize your life experiences. You've got to put your distinctions to the test in your own life and as a result get stories, examples and case studies that back them up or prove your assumptions wrong.

Step 4: What are your top 3 intentions for the next 14days?

Note: Here you have two options. You either detail an intention that stretches you or an intention that helps you move forward a little. Either way is fine. The only clause it must be an intention that you are fully committed to seeing through not just something that you hope to do.

Step 5: Detail all the things that will stop you from achieving your intentions, map out solutions to them and then go to action immediately.

I call this 5 part process The Results Engine™ and this is the most basic form of it.

There are obviously higher level nuances to this but this is enough to get anyone of us up and running...if you're serious about making a quantum leap this year.

Every two sprint I'll share mind so you have some context for your growth...

And if you're interested in having me lead you through this process, hold you accountable and help you achieve seemingly impossible goals over the next 60days...
