So there I was minding my business on instagram...

When I saw the video clip of Will Smith slapping the rock...

By now I'm sure you seen it...

Heck..

I'll even bet you've read quite a few views about it...

To be honest...

I actually didn't want to say anything...

But...

Will slapped Chris Rock across the face...

Swore at him several times...

And then won the Academy Award for best actor...

Gave a very emotional speech about the nature of love...

And then said:

Apparently, love makes us do stupid, crazy things, but it's OK, because, you know, love and stuff.

When I heard that...

I just had to say something...

Now whether you're Team Chris or Team Will...

And trust me...

The internet is taking sides even if you're not...

The things that very few people are questioning are the ideas that:

Love leads to upset...

And the more love we have for something...

The more that potential for upset grows...

Love can "make" us do things that are harmful to ourselves or others..

Love is a legitimate cause for and justification of violence in the world.

Seriously?

Here's something to consider...

In Rapid Results Engineering™...

I talk about how we get caught in the feeling of our thought...

And how that pretty much has nothing to do with the reality of our situations...

The only thing that can "make us" upset...

Is our own upsetting thinking.

The only thing that can make us angry...

Is our own worried, defensive, judgmental and self righteous thinking...

The only thing that can make us behave in ways that are harmful to ourselves or others...

Is getting so lost in our own thought-created reality...

That we get temporarily cut off from our internal wisdom, mental health, and common sense.

AKA...

We go batshit crazy and slap a colleague in front of 15 million people!

Say what you want...

But would he have done that if a female host told the same joke...

I seriously doubt that...

Especially when you consider how hard he laughed at the joke at first...

Love is our natural state of being.

But..

It's not love that make you do crazy shit...

It's your thinking that makes you do that...

Love doesn't hurt...

But our unrecognized thinking really, really does.

And the fact that millions of people share the same form of madness...

Does not mean that they are not mad.

Let's not be one of them.
