Hey there ,
It's a very good day to be alive.
Have you watched the movie: The Magnificent Seven?
Fantastic movie!
Really you should watch it.
It's about 7 guys who take a stand to protect a town and it's people from being taken advantage of by a notorious robber baron.
The main reason I'm referencing the movie is because when Denzel Washington...who plays the lead role in the movie made up his mind to help the towns people.
He didn't just walk into the town and proclaim his authority as their protector.
Nope...
He went looking for 6 other guys.
Not just any bunch of guys...
But a very unique band of guys with very unique skillsets.
All seven of them working together saved the town from 400 heavily armed criminals.
There's a line in that movie that pretty much stuck out for me...
Denzel when he was facing off with the first set of criminals he met in the town said...
"Sometimes cowards think they're strong and mighty because they're bullying people who can't handle their business, but let them come up against a few men who know what they're doing and everything changes"
Classic tough guy speech right?
But the movie's storyline reminds me very much about what it takes to actually succeed and thrive in any field as an expert and as an authority.
The secret is buried in these words: INCOME FOLLOWS ASSETS
Burn those words in your mind until it becomes the way you mind naturally thinks about how you're building authority in the market place.
Just like Denzel didn't go charging in to town alone...
But instead went and got 6 other solid guys with very special skill sets to go with him...
You also shouldn't go charging into any field without thinking through the assets that you're going to need to develop...
And then go to work developing them consistently.
There are basically 7 assets we all should be developing...
But I've broken them in to three major categories:
First are Thinking Assets.
This is all about your intellectual property.
No matter what business you're in...
You are actually in the intellectual property business.
You need to be deliberately making out time to capture your thinking in ways that are immediately meaningful, relevant and engaging to your audience.
There's so much you have inside that head of yours that can set you up for life...
If you only take out time to capture it effectively.
I believe that at the very minimum in today's word you need to be able to talk about your topic 12hours a day and 32 days straight without repeating yourself...
That level of depth on your topic gives you a very unfair advantage in the market place.
Both in terms of you ability to make money as well as the opportunity to establish yourself as a legend in your space.
And trust me...
YOU WANT TO BE ESTABLISHED AS A LEGEND IN YOUR SPACE.
The second group of assets you need are Selling assets.
These are basically the assets you develop that actually help you sell your intellectual property.
It could be a powerful sales letter...
An amazing pitch...
Your profile in the market...
An audio program or video that actually converts sales for you on a predictable basis.
The third group of assets are what I refer to as Delivery assets.
Assets that help you create a wow experience for your clients and has them coming back and referring you to others.
These assets could include your process for taking care of your clients...
The community you build around your brand or products...
The culture of your practice etc.
These three assets regulate the amount of income any business generates...
And ensure that you not only generate consistent income...
But also that you can scale things up whenever you want to.
Remember: Income Always follows Assets.
