Me, Tyler Perry and the British royal family
Jan 17, 2024 7:55 am
Hey there!
So just as I got my coffee and settled in to write this to you...
My youngest comes to me with a question.
Nelly: Papa do know why Wednesdays are my favorite days?
Me: No. Tell me.
Nelly: It's sports day and so we get to wear pants. So we can do cartwheels and all sorts without having to worry about our skirts riding to high. Plus it's also incredibly convenient when you want to kick somebody!
Me in my head: Yup! She's mine! #evillaugh
======================================
So yesterday we laid the foundation and got clear about the 5 core distinctions we need to understand in order to build a community of true fans who form the base for...
Launching, growing and scaling a wildly successful and highly profitable global practice....
Literally from anywhere in the world as long as you have internet access and a means to collect payment.
If you missed out on it...
I recommend you go back and read that first for context.
Today, I'll start unpacking the the very first distinction: GIVE PEOPLE SOMETHING OR SOMEONE TO BELIEVE IN
And the key question here is: Who do you want to serve?
Now before you go extra and start thinking this is about the all mighty niche question...
Let me clarify a few things.
If you've been around for a while and you're absolutely clear on who you want to serve...
Go ahead and play the traditional niche game
If you're only interested in a specific geographical location...
By all means..
Play the traditional niche game.
If however you're focused on building a global practice...
Your thinking has to be a bit different...
You have to focus on communicating a clear future, challenges and a resonating pitch.
"Choi! CTM" ( That's code for "OMG! What does that mean?!)
Kamdan (Calm down)..
Let me explain.
Every one you meet is future focused.
Most however are thinking about the future from a point of confusion, powerlessness and loneliness.
Your job is to pitch a future that is crystal clear and...
A sense that you will provide access to the capabilities they need to make that future a reality...
And a sense of confidence concerning that future, that comes from knowing they have your support and eventually that of like minded people.
This is very important because in today's world...
Ideologies that speak to a future bigger and better than the past is what draws people and bands them together.
So you need a very clear message about a preferred future.
Question: CTM How?
#sigh #sipscoffeelacedwithalittleogogoro #aah
The key to a resonating message is that it has to be tied to a fundamental human need...
In the Community Mastery Method™ these needs are channeled through what i refer to as the 4 core desires™:
- To make money
- To save money
- To stay or get out of trouble
- To live a better life
A future that delivers any or all of these 4 will resonate with a number of people at any point in time depending of course on how you have chosen to phrase it.
Why?
Because these 4 core desires™ deliver on the 6 human needs:
- Certainty: the need for safety, stability, and predictability.
- Variety: the need for change, excitement, and novelty.
- Significance: the need for importance, recognition, and respect.
- Love and connection: the need for intimacy, closeness, and affection.
- Growth: the need for progress, development, and expansion.
- Contribution: the need for giving, helping, and serving others.
One of the things I learned pretty early is that pain is a terrible thing to waste.
Shared pain and frustration has a knack for bring people from many different backgrounds together.
In every market, there're known problems that everyone talks about but there are also known problems that nobody talks about.
You've got to be able to identify these known unspoken problems and be the one who initiates conversations about it.
The moment you do that, you'll find that you connect with your market at a very deep emotional level..
That connection gives you the opportunity to lead them wherever you want to take them.
So when you think about the people you want to serve…
What’s the pain that they all feel?
Put another way…
What is problem that is driving your people crazy?
How is it limiting their freedom and driving emotion?
What is it keeping them from?
And is it a pain/problem that they currently feel or...
Is it a deep down and now numbed pain due to so many years of discomfort?
In my case back in January 5, 2025 when I launched the Highly Paid Experts Network...
The future was clear and simple: Become a high profile, highly paid expert in your field.
And it was born from the things I was hearing experts around me say...
"I know a lot but I don't make enough meanwhile people who don't have half my skill make all the money"
At first I attracted speakers, authors, trainers, consultants, facilitators, coaches, in multiple different fields...
Then I started attracting everyday entrepreneurs who wanted to leverage what they know to build their business.
So I morphed my message to: Become a high profile, highly paid person of influence in your field.
And as they say...
The rest is history.
Now here's the thing...
Back when I launched the facebook group, I was pretty much unknown in the expert space...
And so even though I'd started attracting people with my rallying pitch...
I still had to establish credibility and I had to do it fast!
However...
I didn't want to invest private time with anyone for free...
So I put into play a pricing strategy that my coach Janet shared with me...
It was pay what you want...
And people went nuts with suspicion #evillaugh
Once I proved that I meant it...
I started offering actionplan consultations on a pay what you want basis and would literally invest 3 to 4 hours with a client to help them draw up their plans for launching or growing their practice.
It was a lot and it was hard...
But..
It worked.
Soon I was booked an entire year in advance. And so you had to pay a fixed feed if you didn't want to wait a year to consult with me.
Half the people I had consultations with upgraded their membership to platinum and diamond status...
11 months later...
HPEN had cleared 20+million Naira (approx $100,000 at the time)
And a legend was born. #sipscoffee #aah
Those who did consultations with me gradually formed the core of HPEN and because I did them a solid...
They went out and got others to join.
Pretty soon...
The who is who of the Nigerian expert space was in the group...
I also got to enjoy some bragging perks...
Having Tyler Perry show up at a workshop and share for an hour...free
Sharing the stage with Sam Adeyemi...
Having Frank Kern adopt my thinking to his marketing...
Serving as strategic advisor to 4 African presidents...
Enjoying private chopper/jet tings
Getting a few one hour consult with GaryV at a critical moment in my life...
Having a member of the British royal family as a client...
Receiving ridiculous gift offers: land, buildings, cars, gadgets, exotic travel opportunities...
And pretty much having people fall over themselves to do me good.
The foundation for all of that was two things:
First...
A very clear pitch that promised a future, and the capabilities and support system for achieving that future that resonated with a specific crowd of people.
Second...
My willingness to put serving my people at the center of my focus rather than money.
That's it for today...
Tomorrow...
I'll dig deeper into our first distinction...
I'll share what you need to immediately start doing once you have a strong pitch and have started attracting people.
And the simplest way to establish a critical psychological bond with your audience.
Till then...
Get out of your own way and play a bigger game than you've ever played before.
