[TDM] How to build a better you
Jan 18, 2022 7:01 am
Hey there
Yesterday we started a conversation about how the best leverage comes from:
- Scaling you
- Scaling your market
- Scaling your delivery
- Scaling your practice
When it comes to scaling you...
Here's something to keep in mind:
If someone in the market is making more than you, it's because they're better than you at the game. Don't throw stones on them...throw them at your ego instead. Admit your deficiencies. That's how you create space to learn.
So...how do you get better?
Your success is bottlenecked by you in three ways..
- Your skills
- Your character
- Your beliefs
If any one of these 3 is not developed to the extent it needs to be for the level of success that you want...
You will be limited...
One of the most common ways we limit ourselves is the habit (character trait) of pursuing every single opportunity that is presented to us...
Why?
Well...sensei...
You never know which one will succeed.
In doing that we loose out on the power of focusing our resources...
Especially when you don't have a lot of resources in the first place or the skill needed to manage those resources.
You probably have your hands in 2 or 3 things at the moment...
You've invested time, energy and money...
And you still haven't gotten it off the ground...
And to make matters worse...
You're exhausted.
Lemme epp ya life: PICK ONE and get that to work first.
Whether it's solution frames or offers or anything....
Pick one and give it 100%...
Typically I say go at 100% on one thing for 3 months....
Then assess it to decide if you'd like to continue with it or follow through with something else.
In my world...
You create a solutionframeā¢ and the goal is to get it to $10,000 in 3 months.
Just one solutionframeā¢...
At the end of 3 months...
Evaluate things...
And if you no longer want to focus on that....do something else.
If you've made some progress but not yet reached your goal...
Don't create anything new...
Just keep working on that one thing till you reach your goal.
The advantage is over time...
You get really really good at it.
Mastery has a ripple effect.
I often hear people say...
Nigerian's don't like to pay...
Facebook doesn't work....
There are no good staff...
When I hear things like this...
All I think is that this person simply doesn't have the skills to create that reality...
Every level of success you want requires a skill set...
The sad thing though is that for most people...
We want to jump to that next level without even mastering the fundamentals...
What are the fundamentals in our space?
- Clearly defining a problem that people want solved
- Creating a transformational program that solves that problem
- Having conversations that enroll people in those programs
That's it...
It's not list building....
Email marketing...
Online ads...
Funnels...
Positioning...
Or any of the stuff we're supposed to be doing...
Now don't get me wrong...
We need those things...
But there's a time and a place for them...
And that time is only after you've mastered the fundamentals...
Identify a problem...
Create a solution...
Talk to people and make them and offer to solve that problem for them.
That's really all you need to get to your first $10,000.
Everything you do online...
Should be focused on helping you do these three things better.
Here's something to remember...
Mastering the fundamentals makes you infinitely good at many other things...
How do you develop the fundamental skills you need?
Skill comes from repetition and feedback:
Do the boring work
Out work your self doubt
Understand that no work is in vain
AKA...
Do it over and over and over again...
Work builds character.
Character expands your ability to do more.
I had a client ask me how I got good at presenting Virtual workshops...
Well...
Over the past 7 years...
I've done more than 2000 live streams...
It's very hard not to be good after doing that many live streams.
Wanna know how i got good with creating Intellectual Property?
Well...
I've been creating 4 every day for the last 15 years...
It's hard to NOT to get good after that much done.
Is it exciting work....nope.
Is it easy work...nope.
But the pay off is solid.
So...
Question:
What fundamental skill are you committed to achieveing a level of mastery over the next 12 months?
The biggest problem you have right now...
The biggest issue keeping you from building your skill and character is this:
Your expectations.
Because your expectations are so high...
More often than not...
You're not patient enough to go through YOUR process of growth.
So what happens is that you start looking for shortcuts...
Unfortunately...THERE ARE NO SHORTCUTS TO YOUR GROWTH.
You will always grow as fast as your current character, skills and beliefs allow...
High expectations + impatience is a great formula for misery.
Play the long game.
Settle down and master your fundamentals...
Make your life and work a masterpiece.
Till tomorrow...
Play a bigger game.
