Why You Feel Stuck and Tired at the Same Time

May 05, 2026 4:01 pm

Hi friend,

There’s a very specific kind of tired that doesn’t make sense.

You didn’t do anything physically demanding.

You didn’t run a marathon.

You didn’t even get that much done.

And yet… by the time you sit down to do something that actually matters, you feel done.

That quiet resistance.

That heaviness behind your eyes.

That voice that says, “Maybe later.”

Most people look at that moment and make it personal.

“I need more discipline.”

“I need more motivation.”

But what if that moment isn’t a character flaw…

What if it’s a design problem?

The Leak You Can’t See

Before your day even begins, your brain has already started spending energy.

Do I get up or hit snooze?

Do I check my phone?

What do I wear?

What do I eat?

What matters first?

None of these feel important.

But your brain doesn’t measure importance. It measures effort.

And every decision draws from the same pool.

By the time you get to the work that could actually change your life…

Your tank is already low.

So you hesitate.

And when you hesitate, something else shows up.

The Lie About Confidence

“I just need to feel more ready.”

It sounds responsible.

It feels smart.

It keeps people stuck for years.

Because confidence doesn’t come first.

It comes after.

After you take a step.

After you feel uncomfortable.

After you prove to yourself that you can move… even when it’s messy.

Action creates evidence.

Evidence builds identity.

Identity becomes confidence.

But most people never start the loop.

Because they’re waiting for the end before they begin.

Why You Feel Both Stuck and Tired

This is the part that matters.

You’re not just waiting.

You’re also drained.

So even when you want to act, you don’t have the energy.

And even when you have the time, you don’t have the clarity.

That combination creates the feeling so many people live in:

“I know what I want… I just can’t seem to do it.”

You can.

You just need to change two things:

What you spend your energy on

And how small you’re willing to start.

A Simpler Way Forward

You don’t need a full life reset.

You need one clean shift.

Tonight, decide one thing in advance.

One decision you won’t make tomorrow.

Breakfast.

Clothes.

Your first hour.

Remove it.

Then take one action.

Not a big one.

A small one.

Small enough that your brain doesn’t resist it.

Write one sentence.

Send one message.

Open the document.

That’s it.

That’s how the loop starts.

Reflection (Go a Layer Deeper)

Take a minute with these. Don’t rush them.

  1. Where in your day do you feel the most unnecessary friction?
  2. What is one decision you repeat daily that no longer needs your attention?
  3. What have you been waiting to feel ready for?
  4. If you removed the pressure to do it perfectly… what would the smallest possible version of starting look like?
  5. What would change in your life if you trusted yourself to act before you felt confident?

Let these sit. You don’t need to solve them all at once.

Subscriber Bonus: The 3-Minute Reset

If your energy feels scattered or low, try this tomorrow morning:

Step 1

Before you check your phone, take one slow breath and ask:

“What actually matters today?”

Step 2

Write down just one thing.

Not five. Not ten.

One.

Step 3

Remove one decision that would normally come before it.

Step 4

Start before anything else touches your attention.

Even if it’s messy. Even if it’s small.

This is how you protect your energy and build momentum at the same time.

One Thought to Carry With You

You are not tired because you are weak.

You are tired because your energy is being spent on things that were never meant to hold it.

And the version of you that feels clear, focused, and confident…

That version isn’t waiting for motivation.

They’re built from the actions you haven’t taken yet.

Start small.

But start.
