Protein will not heal your body!

Hello there

Protein will not heal your body if you are not:

  • taking in enough protein;
  • taking in the right quality of protein;
  • properly absorb protein; and / or
  • properly utilise protein

I know what you’re thinking...

And it’s true I’m not Doctor, I’m not a Nutritionist and I’m definitely no Dietician.

So what gives me the right to speak about Nutrition?

Truth is, nothing really, not scientifically anyway.

But I am an expert in communicating with the body.

I recently discovered that my body although consuming enough protein (according to my macros), my body wasn't properly absorbing or utilising protein properly.

It’s not something that had crossed my mind, not consciously anyway.

In fact, if I think about it now it makes total sense.

  • I continually felt weak, tired and wake up like I didn't sleep at all
  • my muscles seem to remain weak even after consistent weight lifting
  • I'd was sick twice in 10 weeks (so out of the ordinary)
  • My overall body composition didn’t make sense especially after the amount of exercise / training I was doing

Protein is one of the three essential macronutrients, the others being fats and carbohydrates.

Protein requirements increase during times of healing and recovery, and often show up as a need during that time.

Symptoms of deficiency include:

  • Swelling
  • Mood changes
  • Hair, nail, skin issues
  • Weakness and fatigue
  • Hunger
  • Slow-healing of injuries
  • Getting or staying sick

And of course is a requirement if you want to heal, build and increase your muscle mass 💪🏼

Most often, when the body wants a certain protein, it is in order to provide better healing and recovery.

If you want to know whether you are absorbing the right quality of protein that you are consuming.
