Faith & Life Lessons - March 27, 2022

image

Welcome to the March 27th edition of Faith & Life Lessons.

You will see this email full of tidbits from my week. My goal is simple. I hope that from how I live my life, you can find a thing or two that helps you as you try to live a life that matters. I am always trying to do one thing - make Christ-focused decisions in love, work, and life. And this was my week.

The Story of My Week

During my conversation with our neighbor, he told me he and his wife were taking a one-week holiday.

They had the blessing of having one of the grandmothers living 1 bus stop away from them.

An unusual situation for most of us that live in countries outside our countries of birth.

You get the drift - grandma was going to be taking care of the kids for the week.

And the parents?

They were spending a week in the Maldives.

I was so excited for them.

Want to know why?

My wife & I had our honeymoon there.

We enjoyed our time there from the moment we landed at the airport.

This was the first country I visited that the immigration officer acted as a travel guide.

The guy was literally telling us interesting stuff about his country while he was processing our passports.

PS: you get a 30-day no-questions-asked visa at the point of entry.

Anyway, our neighbors sent me great pictures, from the moment they get there.

He sent me the last set of pictures today. They are back home.

I know that time away would definitely have refreshed them.

Kids take attention. Getting time away is like gold for parents.

My wife and I are still planning for that.

Someday.

Things I Learnt

1-The Uniqueness of How God Leads You: I joined a premium training program earlier in the year.

We had a 3-day conference this week in the USA.

No, I didn't travel.

We had the virtual option which was great. Except when you consider the time difference and having to stay up late through the night.

That's not the gist here.

One of the speakers, a Hollywood actress who is also a Christian, talked about how God leads in her work training new actors.

Most of the actors are not Christians and have little interest in Christianity.

During her training with them, leveraging on the gift of prophecy, she gives them personal words.

One thing to note, she doesn't present it as "God said..." or "Jesus said..."

She would tell them to do an imagination exercise and talk to the person of Truth.

Later on, she would ask them follow-up questions about "what did Truth call you? what does that mean for you?"

She brings in other people with the gift of prophecy to work with her but calls them Truth Experts. She would read what Truth is saying to her about specific persons in the group.

During the conference, she played a video (with the actor's permission) of the reaction of one of the actors when she shared a prophecy with Him.

As I listened to her, I understood the uniqueness of what she was called to do. I also understand the possibility of error if people adopt what she is doing without considering what she is called to do.

We must never obscure God.

Jesus is a key offense of the Christian message.

While I agree that we don't always have to start with the offense, we must never remove the offense.

It is what makes Christianity unique.

2-Don't Forget Your Inner Life: I am reminded more of why I need to take care of my inner life.

I read stories of people that are losing their positions and reputations because of personal failures.

Things they built over years, all come crashing down.

A clear case of "the things that bring a person down when he gets to the top, climb up with him."

May I never forget the importance of judging myself constantly.

The more I judge myself and take corrective actions, the less likely that I will make a fool of myself, my family, and my faith in public.

Postscript

May you find peace and rest in the middle of everything happening around you. May nothing take away your security and assurance in God's promises over your life. Amen
