[TMG] #HorribleBosses or Not

Howdy ,

I had always had a fairly good sail with all my bosses.

That was until this one.

It was a couple of years back.

I had moved from asset management to a completely new industry. So, I was restarting my learning experience.

My new boss did not make the start-up process as seamless as I would have expected.

It’s not just about the work. I was a high-level performer in my previous roles so I was ready to do the work.

Working with my new boss was like the weather. Your day went based on the weather forecast.

If it was a sunshine and cloudless day, it is going to be a lovely day.

If it was thunderstorms, rain, and hail, then hide your horses because it’s going to be a rough day.

She would scream and shout without warning. Sometimes, the complaints had no direct relationship to the job. They just came.

So, why didn’t I leave?

The first reason, she was one of the best in that industry. There was a lot I could learn despite the challenging veneer that she put up.

Second, God told me to stay. I even got another offer but I stayed.

Staying with her matured me. I grew on the job and in my faith.

It was during that season that God gave me the word that would become the cornerstone of how I still live my life today.

And God took care of my emotional and mental life. Being talked down on can be difficult but God helped me not to lose my confidence.

I recall a time when she was in those bad moods, she screamed and told me she was taking me off the project I was leading.

I honestly can’t remember why - it must have been a very cloudy and rainy day.

Anyhow. I walked out of her office and about 5 minutes later I walked back in.

I told her I was not handing over the project (talk about a boss move, this was it).

I was going to continue the project and deliver it. I don’t know why but my few minutes less-than-impressive-Dragon’s-Den pitch worked.

I’m not sure she was expecting me to come back and do this. She conceded and handed the project back to me.

I did complete the project at a good profit for the company.

And eventually, I got one of my best appraisals from her.

Sometimes horrible bosses are instruments of God to bring us closer to the versions of who He wants us to be for that season of life.

What’s your assignment for today?

1 - Take an inventory of any horrible boss or situation you are currently in.

2 - Ask God if you need to leave or stay in that situation

3 - If you need to stay, ask Him who you need to become to thrive in it.

4 - if you need to leave, ask Him for wisdom to take the right next step.

5 - Take action and trust in God’s ability to cause all things to work together for good for you:

Feeling confused about what you need to do next, hit reply, and let’s talk.

As always

Keep Multiplying what you have been given by God in life.

Tata,

Tola
