🍩 Donuts Newsletter Issue #2: Breathing Down My Competitor's Neck

🍩 Good day, Donuts!

Another two weeks no see!

I prefer sending emails when I can share the "walk," not just the "talk."

Plus, should I even mention that currently, my life is about two things:

1) Uploading tons of articles for the niche project

and

2) That's right, renovating my home.

Both activities are going pretty well. I know I haven't yet sent August's update for the niche project, but I'll send both reports (AUG + SEP) at the beginning of October.

I promise you, fluffy donut! I'll do it.

I'm Breathing Down My Competitor's Neck

.#1.. As I have shared in my last newsletter, I bought another expired domain from Odys.global. This time, I've 301-redirected it to two of my websites in the coupon niche. Both sites are in the same niche, and yes, both websites are competing with each other.

Some will say that this doesn't make sense. But in this case, it does. And I will even launch a third one, which will be built on an expired domain I found on expireddomains.net. I have two guides for each type of expired (aged) domains - aged domains from Odys and expired domains from expireddomains.net.

So, at this point, the website from the case study with Odys (one of the coupon sites) already has two aged domains redirected to it. The first one was redirected to a specific internal landing page, and the second website was redirected to the home page and to some of the internal pages I want to rank the most.

With the last redirect, the website reached the DR (Ahref's domain rating) of my main competitor's. And this was my initial goal. I wanted my domain to be at least as strong as my competitor's (by the way, their DR increased by incorporating a 301 redirection from a very, very strong PR website).

I won't be redirecting more websites because it is quite possible to give a red flag to Google. But I reached my goal in under two months, going from a DR12 to DR38 for less than $1300. I would never have done it by buying links, not to mention paying for outreach campaigns.

It's still very early to talk about results, but for now, both traffic and the total number of keywords for which both websites rank have increased. I can't speak for the monthly income because only two weeks have passed since the beginning of this experiment.

Once I have more insights, I will update the initial guide about buying aged domains on Odys, and I'll make sure you know when it's live.

.#2.. I am currently preparing an exciting case study, which will explain "The Case for milaonsupplements.com." Milaonsupplements.com is the first niche website I've ever built, and it's the reason why I quit my corporate job, the reason why I joined a startup, and the reason why I never stop building niche websites on the side. But what's interesting is what I did to revive its traffic, and honestly, it is on the perfect path for steady growth (as long as I stick to my plan and support the growth).

I guarantee that no one has ever used this method the way I did it. No one.

Just give me a little bit of time to complete the full case study, as I want to include as much information, data, and insights as I can possibly remember.

Tasks, Time, and Life

.#1.. I've successfully incorporated Notion into my tasks and documents management system. I have a lot more to organize, but I am enjoying the whole process.

.#2.. I started waking up between 5:30 and 6:00 AM again (I did it for almost two years when I was working for a startup), and I feel even more satisfied with my work. I didn't force it, it was my cat's decision, and I obeyed. πŸ˜… I get a ton of work done, and it just keeps me happy. I don't know how to explain it.

I always feel powerful when I can start my days before all Americans πŸ˜… (kidding, however, for us - Europeans, these are the facts. When Americans tweet "Good morning," we Balkans already drink our rakia πŸ˜…). Joke aside, I feel gratitude when I "own my mornings," if this makes sense.

That's it for today, donuts. It's just another day of good hustling. Don't waste your time, because we eat and drink on the weekends, too. And your heart won't skip a beat only because it's Sunday. Just live as it is a play every day.

Own your future, Friends!
