🍩 Good day, Donuts!
Two weeks no see, huh?
It's good to be back because I have things to share.
Life and Project's Update
#1 The previous weekend I went to see my niece for the first time (1 month-year-old). She is an adorable little girl, and it breaks my heart to know that she will have to grow up in the harsh world we live in these days. Harsh not because of the conditions we live in, but because of the growing low morals of humanity. I hope she grows with a tender heart and high morals. I hope she inherits the roots of our Rhodopе traditions.
#2 Last weekend I started painting my bathroom tiles (there is a special tile paint, and the results are stunning). Yes, the renovation of my apartment continues. When I bought the place, my initial plan was to put new paint on the walls, move in, and complete the entire renovation next summer. I planned a big and costly renovation. But I changed my mind. I change it because I always wanted to build a home myself. I don't want a catalog home. So, I will learn how to use some tools and do the renovation myself (okay, my dad will help me with some high voltage stuff).
#3 Also, the past three weeks were very hectic and a bit chaotic. I usually don't take any client work, but when I do, it is because of the people and the purpose of the project, not solely for the money. I took one project for a prominent local website. The website had an enormous positive impact on me when I was growing up, and I am more than happy to work with them.
#4 And in the next one or two weeks, I will start working on another local project. What's interesting about this project is that while we are doing it, Koray's team will teach us how to apply his Semantic SEO methods. I can't explain how happy I am about it. This means that fresh knowledge is coming. And what he preaches is the real deal. If you haven't read Koray's Semantic SEO Manifesto, go ahead and read it.
So given all these new projects and the ongoing renovation, I had to better plan for my days. Read below to see what happens next.
Newsletter Update
To make it easier for me to follow the sequence of this newsletter, as of this email, I will name the topics as follows:
- Donuts Newsletter [#] + Each week's main topic
This will also be a good way for my readers to track each new issue and check if they have missed any emails.
Task and Time Management
#1 I've decided to give Notion another try. I use Notion every day, but not in any systematic way, a bit more chaotically. I am committed to moving every document, template, and system to Notion. I already initiated the process. In the beginning, there is a bit of frustration because of the learning curve. But I can tell that there is considerable potential in using Notion as a systematic tool to keep all documents, templates, and systems in one place.
#2 What I won't use Notion for is task management. I will continue using Kanbanize (the best Kanban software) as my task management system, as nothing can beat my workflow there.
#3 Easy email management and Inbox Zero are possible thanks to my Kanban system within Gmail.
Social Media
I deleted my LinkedIn profile. I am not looking for a job, and I can't relate to the "big titles ex-FAANG" people there. I can't stand the bullshit topics they are discussing. Decluttering is my thing, and I don't have to keep things just for the sake of keeping. The best way to contact me is on Twitter and via my website's contact info (or by replying back to my newsletter).
Working on a Product
I have a lot on my plate right now, but I am working on a paid product for my marketing website (milachervenkova.rocks) when I have spare hours. It won't be another marketing course, it won't be a SaaS, and it won't be a paid newsletter.
I've always wanted to create a compressed space for systematic learning (initially, mainly for myself). A space where I can log in and find anything I've ever learned on a topic. I want to be able to search through the data of all marketing experiments I have ever done. And I want a space for all of my templates, systems, documents, separated into marketing chapters.
There is much more to the whole picture, and I don't think I have ever seen a similar paid space in the marketing niche. I won't be launching any MVP. I don't feel like I need any permission from my peers. I will Just do It.
I will still be writing this newsletter, and it will stay free for everyone.
Now, I need to go back and finish painting my bathroom tiles, so this is everything for Donuts Newsletter Issue #1. Next week I will send the August report for the niche website project.
p.s. 1
A week ago, I bought another aged domain from Odys.global. They are running a summer sale with a 30% discount on all ODYS domains until the end of this month (August). If you are planning to invest in an aged domain, checked what's available on Odys (you will get an additional 100 EUR/USD bonus with my link).
p.s. 2
If you are the type of person who enjoys reading lyrical essays, I've written one for Medium's writing contest. I have to warn you; my lyrical writings aren't for everyone. Proceed with precaution.
Stay humble and don't be afraid to say Hi :)
Own your future, Friends!
