three things you don't learn in school

and how to learn one of them now

Hey Humans,

Another weekend has passed along with several chances to venture out into the world.

Recently:

  1. I set up two high school students for their 1st listening table (outside my old high school). Read my recap and read one of their reflections so you can see one listening experience from two perspectives.
  2. A high schooler in El Paso, TX set up his 9th table on campus at lunch and got featured in by a huge local social media page.
  3. Stacey set up her 3rd and 4th tables in Toodyay, Australia. Read her recap where she wrote: "I just feel so attracted to this entire concept. I've never felt this attracted to anything before. I've had dreams of making something big before. I believe in my capacity. But until now, I hadn't found the thing that I want to make big. All my life, I've been waiting for an opportunity like this, and here it is screaming, 'Go Delbert! Go Delbert!' "

This will give those interested in the nitty-gritty of the experiences a chance to get a much deeper look than the 1 minute videos online.

Three things they don't teach you in high school.

  1. Taxes
  2. Social Skills
  3. Gardening

Imagine how much peace of mind you'd have it you learned any of these from a young age.

Well, I'm here to offer a guiding hand in enhancing that one aspect that often goes overlooked: social skills.

If this sounds interesting to you, reply to this email and I'll send you some more info.

Thanks for listening,

Orly Israel

Updates: I've teamed up with a global nonprofit to build a curriculum for students and volunteers to be able to easier bring a packet to anyone who needs to understand more about a table before allowing one to be set up.

This includes school faculty and student leadership, nursing home staff, homeless shelter staff, farmers market organizers, librarians, and anyone else you might be able to think of. If you are one of these people, or connected to one and are willing to help ensure the creation of a satisfactory document, please reply to this email with some info about yourself because I could really use your help.

P.S. I've taken on some weekend work so I don't know when the next How To Listening Table is going to happen. I may aim for Sunday evenings.

P.P.S. As I try to hone in my own style of weekly email, I'm enjoying experimenting with how my words feel in other's formats.
