Hi y'all,
It's the end of 2023 and I'd like to start the new year off right by finally getting this mailer off the ground.
It will be a short email list, with a link to a lesson I've learned or a story I've heard, and maybe something fun.
💾 To kick off, I launched a new (and improving) website.
Highlights from 2023:
- People are Listening Tabling in at least eight states and seven countries including Canada, Spain, Israel, and Japan. We're expanding to Africa through a partnership with QS ImpACT.
- I led workshops for Penn University, PANCAN, Peoplehood (founded by the creators of Soul Cycle 🚴), and started working with 1-on-1 clients.
- SAMHSA (Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration) invited me to Washington D.C. to discuss creating a national listening line that works in tandem with the suicide hotline.
🃏 This game saved my relationship
Developing a good listener's vocabulary is challenging. It's so easy to get exasperated in a hard conversation. 🦘
I wished I'd learned about GROK years ago to realize that emotional intelligence could be PRACTICED. I love playing with my partner and my family, and it's also been a conversation-saver during emotionally charged phone calls. I keep it on my desk at all times.
People who want to be more empathetic... this game is especially for you.
(There's a 20% off holiday sale until December 15th)
🎥 Bobby Fingers is Ny New Favorite YouTuber
Calling him a YouTuber is probably an insult. He is a fine artist who makes highly detailed dioramas of celebrity's most embarrassing moments.
He has four videos online.
In this one, he makes a functioning boat out that looks like Jeff Bezos' head and takes it to sea, where he gets tangled up with some pirates. Naturally, there's a musical number.
Happy Listening,
Orly Israel
P.S. My new listening table store is up and running with our first run of product. Check out the merch here.
