This week's franchise research tip:

When you contact franchisees (to get your questions about the franchise brand, income potential etc., answered), don't call franchisees that live close to you until you have talked to a few in other geographic areas, first.

Why?

Because if you call local franchisees first...

A. They may get worried that another franchisee is being added to the area, which will hurt their earnings. (Not necessarily true)

B. You won't sound knowledgeable about the franchise business. And because of that, the local franchisee on the other end of the line won't want to reveal much.

With those things in mind, if you want to do this right, make several calls outside of your area first, so by the time you call local franchisees, you'll sound like you know what you're talking about.
