Hello Readers!

Thanks again for being a part of our little newsletter. We have a few quick updates for you this month:

  • Bundle of Holding includes Bridgetown!
  • New Blog Posts...hopefully with a few more coming soon.
  • Overpowered Updates
  • And the usual Personal Updates.

Bridgetown in Bundle of Holding

image

The latest Bundle of Holding features a bunch of fantastic Troika books, including Bridgetown!

Bridgetown is a pastoral, liminal RPG setting perched on a never-ending, ever-crumbling bridge. Featuring flavorful backgrounds, a new spellcasting system, a way to connect multiple campaign worlds, and 21 stew recipes, Bridgetown was built on Troika! but can extend to almost any gaming table.

Any and all profits we make from this bundle will be split between Bridgetown's two writers: Johnny and Furtive Goblin. So some your money goes directly to support them so they can continue to make incredible RPG adventures. And you get a bunch of rad books in return! Win-Win.

New Blog Posts (and more?)

I (David) managed to break through my writer's block and deliver good on two new blog posts!

image

  • Cloud Empress Review: With lots of art and a summary of my recent 6 month long Cloud Empress campaign.
  • Barkeep Review: Which ended up being an in-depth exploration of how different RPGs set the tone for their adventures and worlds.

I'm hoping to write two more blog posts in September, if I can balance it with the work I'm doing on Overpowered. Here's a list of topics I am considering, but I make no promises how and when creativity shall strike:

  • Seas of Sand Review
  • Inevitable VS Lancer
  • Attention Economy and Piracy Philosophy
  • 20 Elemental Languages
  • My First Attempt at a Video Game

We'll see which ones I end up finishing (if any!) However I want to make sure I set aside enough time to work on Overpowered. Speaking of...

Overpowered Updates

In addition to fixing typos and incorporating your feedback, we've had to make a difficult decision:

We probably won't be able to fund a print run of Overpowered.

This is a huge bummer, but frankly Overpowered is a really niche and weird idea that never quite sold like we hoped. We are still insanely proud of it, and have a few ideas to improve the final version. But if you're holding out for a print run, I don't want to mislead you.

We hope to add a few more adventure keys to the final version and release before Christmas. Personally I'm excited to run Ravenloft (1983) with it and see how it goes!

If you have supported Overpowered and enjoyed it, then there's more coming soon!

Personal Update + Penmanship

My latest hobby/obsession/lack of self control is fountain pens. I am making a concerted effort to spend less time in front of screens: going on more walks, reading print books, and journalling. To make my journalling feel more special, I picked up a cheap starter fountain pen and fell in love.

Then I bought a slightly nicer fountain pen and some fancy ink. Now I'm obsessed. Sadly my penmanship is still terrible, but only practice can fix that.
