Aug 02, 2024 4:21 pm
Hello Readers!
Thanks again for being a part of our little newsletter. We have a few quick updates for you this month:
- Technical Grimoire will be at Zine Fest 6 in Charleston this Sunday!
- 2-3 Blog Posts in the works
- Overpowered Slow Burn
- Personal updates (no excuses)
Zine Fest 6 This Sunday!
I'll be vending this Sunday (Aug 4) from 11am until 7pm at the Halsey Institute in Charleston, SC. Entrance is free, and I'm giving a cool talk on public domain artwork! Come say "HI" and pick up some rad zines at my table.
If you aren't in town, you can still grab most these zines from the online Spear Witch store!
Blog Posts In Progress
I've got a few blog posts in progress that I'm excited to finish over the month of August:
- In-depth reviews of Cloud Empress and Barkeep on the Borderlands. I've been playing both of these games for several months and am excited to share my thoughts and experiences.
- A conflicted review of Seas of Sand. Rarely have I been so excited to run a game and not had enough energy to prep for it.
- 20 Elemental Languages and how to apply them to your games. This might include a nice PDF for download
I can't promise if I will finish ALL of those blogs in August, but that's my goal.
Overpowered Slow Burn
We released Overpowered 3.0 a few months ago and we've gotten a ton of great feedback on it! We have some small plans for improving the game and hopefully printing a nice version of the game manual before the end of the year.
I don't want to make any hard promises, but I'm hoping to add one or two adventures to the book and get it all printed before 2024 ends. Fingers crossed!
Personal Updates
I always hate it when my favorite creators apologies for not being "productive" enough. I wanna grab them and shout, "Please just rest! You're no good to anyone if you're burned out and exhausted!"
So I took my own advice and have spent the past few months just recovering. Technical Grimoire has published one book a year for the past 8 years, and it's okay to take a little break.
Instead I've been investing my time into some other hobbies: kayaking, exercising, video games, and actually PLAYING rpgs. It's been so amazing and refreshing. I really feel my creative brain healing every day I avoid the internet.
I've been especially enjoying my sunset kayak trips. I avoid the heat of the day and the water is so quiet and peaceful. I wish I could bring you all with me!
Thank you!
None of this would be possible without your support. Whether you are buying our books, or reading the blog, or using our generators, following us on social media, or just reading this newsletter: it all empowers us to make cool things while still living full personal lives.
So thank you again! I hope the next newsletter is filled with awesome blog posts and Overpowered updates.
