Hunting for colour on Blue Monday 🕵️🌈

Jan 19, 2026 11:32 am

Hi ,

You might’ve heard today being called “Blue Monday”.

The idea that this particular Monday in January is the hardest, saddest day of the year.

Whether you buy into that or not, I do know this: Mid-winter can feel a little greyer, a little quieter, a little heavier for many of us.

So instead of leaning into the “blue”, I wanted to offer a gentle reframe 🙂

I was listening to Rose McGowan on a podcast recently, and she shared something that really stayed with me...

She talked about how, when she was a child, her dad would take her hunting for colours.

Not hunting in the usual sense - but noticing colour in the world around her...

Bright signs. Leaves. Clothing. Sky...

Tiny details you might usually rush past.

I love this idea because it gives the nervous system something steady and grounding to orient to - without asking you to “feel better”.

So if today feels a bit flat, here’s a simple invitation:

Pick one colour.

Notice it wherever it appears today.

Let it be enough.

That might be a mug in your hands, a scarf, a leaf on the pavement, a patch of sky, or even something on your screen.

“What colour do you see when you wake up?
What is the last colour that touches you when you sleep?” - Devika Todi

And if you feel like it later, I’d genuinely love to hear from you - hit reply and tell me which colour you chose, and what you noticed 🧡💙💚

Small moments of colour can quietly remind us that there’s still life, variation, and warmth moving around us - even on the grey days ⛈️

And if Blue Monday has stirred up something heavier for you, or you’ve been feeling sad for no clear reason, I also have a gentle tapping video that can support that space.

There’s no pressure to watch it today - just know it’s there if you need it.

However today lands for you, I hope you notice a little colour, a small moment of brightness, and something you can calmly appreciate 🙏💫
