Hi ,
There is a very specific kind of feeling that arrives when a big chapter quietly closes and a new one begins...
My daughter left for university last week. We packed the car to the brim, drove her up to her new home, and spent a whirlwind of a day unpacking boxes and helping her get settled. After an emotional goodbye, my husband and I made the drive back...and that's when the full weight of the feelings hit.
I was upset, of course, but I also felt this sudden sense of being lost and bereft...
At the exact same time, there was immense pride that she achieved her spot, alongside relief that she arrived safely after months of sorting student loans, gathering supplies, and managing all the day-to-day admin. Experiencing so many conflicting emotions at once felt overwhelming...like standing in a hall of mirrors, surrounded by different feelings and not knowing which one to face first.
Coming back home has brought a whole new shift. She has ADHD, which meant our house was often full of bustling liveliness. While I still have my lovely son here at home with us, the house feels noticeably quieter without her specific kind of energy (and I'll be honest, sometimes noise and chaos π€£), and I've found myself gently adjusting to that tender new dynamic.
I'm definitely giving myself the space to tap through all these layered emotions and process the shift as it unfolds.
What I'm holding onto through this transition is the reminder that when a major chapter shifts, the loving, nurturing energy we poured out daily doesn't just disappear π It simply frees up space to flow into new places. For me, it means having renewed heart, focus, and energy to pour into my work, my membership, and creating supportive spaces for all of you.
Every new phase of life - whether it's an empty nest, shifting family dynamics, or a personal change can bring up unexpected layers. It's completely natural to feel proud, hopeful, and nostalgic all at the same time.
A Gentle tapping pause for transitions
If you're navigating a shift or feeling a bit unsettled by change right now, try tapping gently with these phrases. Tune in, take a deep breath and tap on the collarbone...
"Even though this new chapter feels quiet and strange, I honour how much love has gone into getting here"
"Even though I miss the way things used to be, I choose to open up to the new ways my energy can flow"
"Even though change feels overwhelming and full of conflicting emotions, I choose to take this step by step"
A free resource & a question for you
I realised that I don't have many dedicated tapping sessions for parenting older children or navigating these bittersweet life shifts, so I'll be working to change that over the coming months.
However, if you'd like a free session to help ground you on trickier days, I'd love to invite you to listen to my track EFT Tapping for Strength on Hard Days over on Insight Timer (a free meditation app if you don't already have it!). I hope it offers you a gentle space to pause whenever you need it...
I'm also planning to create more resources based on what you need right now...
