Weekly Roundup

Here is what I've been reading, writing, trading, using, pondering and listening to this week.

What I've been reading.

How will you measure your life? by the late Clayton M. Christensen.

I have always had this inner struggle of knowing my family was most important to me, but then observing the disconnect between how I spent my time and money. Clayton uses proven business "theories" or "principles" to shed light on why a lot of driven individuals actually end up unintentionally unhappy, alone, and sometimes even in jail by the end of their lives. Pretty good read with some interesting points.

What I've been writing.

A Small Step to Trade Options Like The Pros.

Some have asked me what trading software I use, so I wrote up a quick tutorial on the Cash Flow blog. It outlines how to get started with ThinkorSwim. There's a video embedded in the tutorial that shows how to analyze trades with statistics and all that. Enjoy.

What I've been trading.

Long GLD and SLV ETF's. They dipped hard this week. The fed continues to print money and the value of the dollar is dropping, so I load up on all the dips.

What I've been using.

Finbox. This has been my go to stock screener. I use it to filter fundamentals to find healthy companies based on their EV/EBITDA and PEG ratios. I also like that they give a fair value of the companies which helps me get a better idea of what a good price for the stock would be. (You'll notice that a lot of stuff is overpriced right now.)

What I've been pondering.

“Charity brings brings to life those who are spiritually dead." - Thomas Aquinas

What I've been listening to.

Atomic Habits by James Clear.

Money book about how to build simple daily habits. Highly recommend. I for one have been trying to brush my teeth twice a day instead of once, write in my journal daily, and tweet consistently. It's helped out a lot.

Fast and Furious EP by Trey Warner

Trey is a mentor and good friend of mine that has successfully escaped the rat race. He's also a crazy talented musician. He writes, performs, records, and produces all of his songs. I like Kickstart because it's about living in coronavirus times. My favorite on the record though is Back in Your Heart cuz I'm a sucker for synths and backup vocals.
