Dear friends of Stand Up to Racism (Birmingham SUTR),

This newsletter includes the launch of Women Against the Far Right Midlands - a Midlands collective for this national campaign to reject the weaponisation of violence against women and girls by the Far Right.

Trade Unionists are invited to affiliate to Stand Up To Racism and send delegates to the Annual General Meeting in November.

Plus, there are various events happing in Birmingham to celebate Black History Month, including the 'Seeking the Pioneers' exhibition at BRIG from 06 October, and 'Mrs B: A Handsworth Life' exhibition at the Back to Backs.

Women Against the Far Right Midlands: Together, We Rise

Across Birmingham - and beyond - the far right is ramping up its efforts to divide our communities. Under the false banner of “protecting women and children” they are spreading hate, stoking fear, and weaponising our identities. But we see through it. We refuse to be used. And we are rising up.

Women Against the Far Right Midlands is a collective of women who are ready to organise, speak out, and take action. We are creatives, activists, workers, carers, and everyday women who are tired of being treated as political pawns in a narrative we never consented to.

We’re inviting all women and allies who are ready to challenge this narrative and build something better. Come to our launch meeting on the 18 October.

Trade Unionists - Affiliate to Stand Up To Racism & attend the AGM

On Saturday 13 September, fascist Tommy Robinson brought over 100,000 people onto the streets. It was the biggest Far Right led demo in British history, backed by the world’s richest man, Elon Musk.

We face the threat of the Far Right on the streets and Nigel Farage’s Reform UK topping the polls.

We urgently need to build a mass movement against the Far Right.

We are asking you to affiliate your union branch to Stand Up To Racism nationally.

Affiliate Here

Stand Up To Racism is holding its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Saturday 8 November. We want to see the biggest possible trade union representation at the AGM to help shape the discussion and make decisions about how we build the movement.

Every local affiliated trade union branch (that has affiliated by Saturday 1 November) is entitled to send up to three delegates to the AGM. Once your branch is affiliated you can register your three delegates here.
