Hello!

In my latest blog post, Toxic Nostalgia: How to Stay Strong When Abusers Try to Pull You Back, I talk about something we all experience after abuse - emphasizing the good times while diminishing the bad times. It's dangerous and only leads us back to the abuser. This happens whether it's an intimate partner, family member, or friend.

Toxic nostalgia can really expose itself during the holidays or when the abuser's birthday arrives or the dreaded wedding anniversay. And we are all susceptible to toxic nostalgia.

This week I experienced a bout myself on my eldest daughter's birthday. It was brief this time simply because I allow myself to smile and remember how cute she was and then I ground myself by looking at my truth bombs reflecting all the pain and loss she caused.

The article includes journal prompts and I would love to hear your thoughts. Have you experienced toxic nostalgia?
