SYAO Creativity, the week of July 24, 2022
Jul 25, 2022 2:54 pm
Hello, everyone!
Here's the latest edition of SYAO Creativity. Let's see what's going on in our creative world!
STITCH (What I've been working on
I've decided to take a slightly different direction for the Advent project. I'll still be doing it, but I'll talk about it more in the fall rather than this week. The plans remain exciting as they evolve!
I've finished knitting my Florida Road Trip mystery shawl, but the journey is still going on. Here's the part of my finished project for our current "Leg 6." Want to join in? Make an appointment, and I'll get you set up! You can get the pattern directly on Ravelry here. Valerie and I have been enjoying this journey, seeing what the shawl looks like in so many different colorways!
YOUR (What you've been working on)
Tina made a blanket from Juniper Moon Farms Cumulus. The texture of this blanket is divine! Squish, squish! She chose a Stephen West pattern, along with a solid and a self-striping color of Cumulus. Want to make one? Set up a time, and I'll get you all fixed up with both the pattern and the yarn.
Let's look a bit closer:
ART (Inspired by art or nature)
This friendship quilt is in the Art Institute of Chicago. Friends like this are priceless!
OUT (What's out on the shelves in the shop)
I just talked about Tina's baby blanket, but there are others you can make from Cumulus! The always-wonderful Knitting Fever sent the shop a sample blanket, so you can feel it in person. You have to stop by to touch this yarn! It's amazing! I've been selling a lot of it for baby blankets.
There are lots of self-striping colors of this yarn in stock. This particular blanket takes 5 skeins. Which one do you want?
As always, make an appointment to shop or browse, or just to show off your stuff! I can't wait to see you!

P. S. The New York Beauty class starts next week! It'll be done on Zoom, so you can stay comfy in your home. Sign up here. (And then set up a time to pick up the pattern, and to choose just the right fabrics.) This is a great class if you have made a few quilts but have never done paper piecing. It looks perfect in so many types of fabrics!
