Two months after Worlds, speedgolf gets a $100k plot twist

Just two months after the Speedgolf World Championships will conclude in New Zealand in November 2026, a mysterious new project is teasing what would be the biggest prize pool in speedgolf history.

A new landing page for the Velocity Speedgolf League points to Las Vegas in January 2027 and references a $100,000 USD purse — a number big enough to get the entire sport’s attention.

Public details are scarce for now. The site itself is a teaser, and nobody has stepped forward to say who is funding the project whether the project is funded yet or which athletes might be involved (although the first three followers of the Instagram account were Rob Hogan, Luke Willett and Jamie Reid).

It seems clear that the production company we saw at the 2025 Irish Speedgolf Open is involved. To refresh your memory, this team had cameras worth more than my car, and was headed by Ben Simms, an award-winning director who has worked with Bear Grylls on multiple projects.

Notably, the sizzle reel didn't flash a bunch of sponsor logos, which makes me think the event is still in search of its title sponsor. (You have to imagine they asked Cobra/Puma, who just featured Speedgolf Rob in an ad for their new drivers...)

But still, if there's one person with the golf balls to make this happen, it's Hogan. That’s not a knock on the rest of the sport. It’s just reality. No one in speedgolf has spent more time trying to make the sport feel bigger, louder, cooler, and more commercially viable than Speedgolf Rob.

A six-figure purse. Las Vegas. Slick video. Mystery. Drama. This is straight out of the Hogan playbook.

Whether Velocity turns out to be a true new league, a made-for-camera showcase, or a very ambitious sponsorship deck with a domain name, it is already doing something important: forcing the speedgolf world to imagine a bigger stage.

If we have Olympic dreams, then a $100k showcase event should be easily achievable.
