Hi ,

In the last email, I shared how I made my brand repeatable —

by filtering everything through a simple question:

“Did I (or you) make it simpler?”


But here’s something I’ve seen over and over again:


People chase the look of memorability.

But not the substance.


I see it especially in the branding world.


A lot of branding experts come from graphic design backgrounds.

They’re talented.

Their websites look amazing.

The logos are gorgeous.

Their own brand names? Usually sleek, mysterious… and borderline unpronounceable.


But here’s the problem:


It’s all vibe.

There’s no message.


There’s no clear sense of what they actually do.

No easy way to talk about them when they’re not in the room.

No simple phrase that sticks in your mind.


So while their work looks stunning…

it’s also forgettable.


That’s not a branding problem.

That’s a messaging problem.


Because if people can’t repeat what you do —

they won’t refer you.


Being memorable isn’t about looking clever.

It’s about being repeatable.


And that only happens when your message is:


  • Clear
  • Concrete
  • Centered on the value you deliver


I’m not saying visuals don’t matter.

They do.


But the real magic happens when your message is clear first —

and your visuals support it, not substitute for it.


If your brand only works when someone visits your website and watches your 2-minute explainer video,

you’re in trouble.


Because most people aren’t looking at your website.

They’re hearing about you in a text.

Or a coffee chat.

Or a quick “Hey, you should talk to this person…”


So here’s the question:

If someone else had to describe your business in one sentence…


Would they get it right?


Look for an email tomorrow about:

  • What if you don’t know your message yet?
  • What if no one’s ever said anything memorable about your work?
