đźź© A Canada Day ritual worth stealing

Hi ,
Today is Canada Day.
And while many are out enjoying the sunshine and fireworks, I find myself in a different kind of celebration.
One with a journal and a cup of coffee.
Because for me, this day always feels like a natural pause.
A moment to reflect on the path behind me—and the road ahead.
Normally, I plan in 90-day chunks.
But this time, I’m stretching it to 120.
Why?
Because I’m speaking at a conference in late October—running a 90-minute workshop—and there’s a lot I want to build, refine, and get ready by then.
That longer horizon has shifted how I approach the next few months.
But the heart of my planning remains the same.
It’s built around a single question.
From the book The ONE Thing by Gary Keller:
What is the ONE Thing I can do today such that by doing it everything else will be easier or unnecessary?
I love that question.
It cuts through noise.
It forces clarity.
It creates momentum.
I play with the time frame.
What’s the ONE Thing I can do in the next 120 days…
…so that everything else becomes easier or unnecessary?
Then I zoom in:
What’s the ONE Thing I can do in the next 30 days?
Then this week?
Then today?
That one question, asked repeatedly at different levels, gives me a roadmap.
One I can actually follow.
If you’re doing any planning this week or weekend, give it a try.
See what answers bubble up.
You might be surprised at how clear things become.
