🟩 Why I never forgot her name
Sep 11, 2025 1:46 pm
Hi ,
There was nothing flashy about her.
She didn’t work the room.
Didn’t hand out branded notebooks or clever gimmicks.
Didn’t try to dominate the conversation.
But I still remember her name.
It was a small event. Maybe 12 of us.
We all went around sharing what we do, talking shop, trying to find some common ground.
Most of it blurred together by the time I got home.
Except for her.
She asked better questions than anyone else in the room.
She followed up later that day with a thoughtful note—short, but personal.
Then, a week later, she sent me something that tied into our conversation.
Something relevant. Memorable. Useful.
Nothing complicated. Nothing automated. Just genuine.
That’s what stuck.
I’ve met hundreds of people in this space over the years, but very few like her.
People who take the extra minute.
People who don’t just show up, but stay in your mind long after the meeting’s over.
And I realized: that’s the real game.
Being the one people remember—not because you tried too hard, but because you made it easy for them to.
If more of us showed up like that, we’d probably be referring each other a whole lot more.
