Over the last couple of emails, I talked about effectiveness vs. efficiency — and how to choose and prioritize the right thing.

Today, I want to add another layer:

Signal vs. noise.

Because let’s be honest — it’s not that we lack information.

It’s that we’re drowning in it.

Advice, ideas, opportunities, tools, messages, posts, pings…

There’s more noise than ever.

So the real skill isn’t knowing more — it’s being able to filter.

To sense the signal in the middle of all that static.

Let me give you a simple example:

Every day, we plan our day.

And what usually happens?

We spend the first 30–60 minutes “getting organized.”

Checking email.

Responding to DMs.

Tidying our to-do list.

Maybe even optimizing the calendar one more time.

But all of that?

That’s noise.

The signal is: What’s the one thing that will actually move the needle today?

And once that’s clear — the smartest move you can make is to start it immediately, while your energy is highest and your mind is sharp.

I’ve found that the earlier I lock into that signal — and take action on it — the smoother and more productive my entire day becomes.

It’s not about doing more.

It’s about doing less noise.

So here’s the pattern that’s emerging from these last few emails:

• First: focus on doing the right things (effectiveness).
• Then: do those things right (efficiency).
• Then: do them in the right order, one at a time (prioritization).
• And now: listen for the signal — and ignore the rest.
