Hi ,

Most businesses are just copies of other businesses.


Same phrases.

Same websites.

Same vibe.


You walk in, and five seconds later you forget you were ever there.


But I’ll never forget the first time I walked into Max Brenner’s chocolate shop in New York.


I didn’t even know it was a chocolate shop.

I opened the door and got hit in the face by the smell of warm chocolate.

A surprise attack on my senses — and it worked.


In front of me: two giant pots of chocolate, swirling hypnotically.

To my left: a bar with people devouring waffles dipped in chocolate and chocolate pizza — which was chocolate crêpes cut in triangular shapes with marshmallows on them.

To my right: a shop full of bonbons, mugs and shirts.


It wasn’t a store. It was a spell.

And everything — everything — was intentional.


The dishes weren’t normal.

They were custom-designed with words like “Drink Me” and “Hug Mug.”

The menu looked like a storybook.

The bill came in a beautifully designed tin box.

The logo? His head, Picasso-style.

The tagline? “Chocolate by the bald man.”


It was joyful. Childlike. Clever.

And not one of those choices was accidental.


They didn’t build that brand by default.

They built it by design.


That’s how you become unignorable.
