🟩 Branding lessons from a van full of lettuce

Hi ,
Last year, I built a beautiful website for myself.
It looked great — fonts lined up, colors chosen with care, everything polished and pro.
But… it was a lot of work.
Design. Pages. Graphics. Drafts. Uploads. Updates.
Every time I wanted to tweak one thing, it felt like opening a can of tech-flavored worms.
Then one day, while typing “Zero Fluff,” I caught myself.
Here I am preaching simplicity… but my own stuff is bloated.
So I asked myself my favorite question:
Am I making it simpler?
Simpler for me?
Simpler for the work?
Simpler for the prospect?
The answer: nope.
That’s when I remembered the best thing I’ve seen out there — a shared doc.
Just a clean Google Doc or Notion page.
Black and white. Easy to find. Impossible to get lost in.
No fancy layout. No bells. No whistles. Just value.
So I made the switch.
From now on, anything new I create lives in simple docs.
One font. A few headings. Minimal graphics. Square images. Bullet lists.
Fast from idea to execution.
Super easy to update.
Effortless to publish (and unpublish).
And most importantly:
The resistance is gone — replaced with excitement.
That’s the biggest win of all.

That page was built with the no fluff approach — you’ll see what I mean.
Want another “no fluff” story?
A few years ago, I was redesigning my business card.
At first, it had all the things: phone, email, website, Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram…
I was this close to adding my blood type when I stopped and laughed.
At the top of the card it said: “SIMPLIFY.”
😅 Yeah, right.
I thought — how can I keep this clean and still give people access to everything?
Enter: the QR code.
I removed everything.
Slapped one single QR code on the back of the card.
Boom — all that clutter vanished.
The code led to a page with everything on it.
And then it hit me:
Even though the card is static, the page is not.
I could update the page anytime.
Change the links. Add a promo. Swap out contact info.
Less on the card = more flexibility in my business.
Wild, right?
And then today — another reminder.
I was in the car with my cousin on the way to the airport when we passed a produce company van.
On the side: a phone number and a Gmail address.
That’s it.
No website. No social media. No fluff.
We both smiled. That’s it. That’s the vibe.
Why complicate it?
If you’re a business like that, what’s the point of a website anyway?
It always leads to the “Contact Us” form… and even then, you’re not sure if someone will respond.
But a Gmail address?
You know how to use that.
You trust it.
You check it a dozen times a day.
Want to send product info? Just attach a PDF.
Want to automate that? Add a link to your email signature.
Want to simplify even more? Use an autoresponder.
Boom. No need for a full website at all.
More function. Less fluff.
Now I’m turning it over to you.
Where do you see too much clutter or fluff in your own setup?
Is it in your website?
Your offer?
Your messaging?
Your marketing materials?
If you already know what needs cleaning — hit reply and tell me.
If you’re not sure what to cut — hit reply anyway.
I might have a few ideas for you.
