Hi ,

If part of you still cringes at the idea of “selling,” you’re not alone.


Most people were never taught a version of sales that feels good.


We were shown scripts that sounded robotic.

Tactics that leaned on urgency and fear.

Examples that made it all seem like a game of pressure and persuasion.


But here’s a definition that changed everything for me.


It comes from Dan Sullivan:


“Selling is getting someone intellectually engaged in a future result that is good for them and getting them to emotionally commit to take action to achieve that result.”


Read it again.

Let that sink in.


It’s not about tricking someone into buying.

It’s about helping someone see what’s possible for their future…

and then helping them care enough to pursue it.


That doesn’t sound evil.

That sounds like service.


Imagine this:


A financial advisor helps a young couple realize that home ownership is within reach.

She maps out a clear path.

She answers their doubts.

She guides them toward a decision that feels both safe and exciting.


She sold them — yes.

But in the best way possible.


Or:


A wellness coach helps someone who’s been stuck for years finally picture a version of themselves that’s healthy, energized, and confident.

And then says, “I can help you get there.”


Is that selling?

Absolutely.

Is it evil?

Not even close.


We don’t need to wait until we’re masters to start sharing our work.

We don’t need to whisper our offers like they’re something to be ashamed of.


Selling, at its best, is a way of helping people commit to a better future.


And that’s something worth getting good at.
