“I think it’s pretty clear…”
That’s what most business owners say when I ask them about their messaging.
And to them, it is clear.
Because they’ve lived it.
They’ve built the offer.
They know what they meant to say.
But here’s the truth:
Clarity isn’t what you feel. It’s what your audience understands.
And those two things are rarely the same.
Here’s what happens all the time:
Someone writes copy they think is straightforward.
They talk about their process, their passion, their product.
It sounds polished. Confident. Legit.
But to the reader?
It feels like every other thing they’ve seen.
Buzzwords. Broad promises. Generic phrases.
like “empowering your growth,”
“strategic solutions tailored to you,”
or “helping you reach your full potential.”
And without realizing it, they’ve created a message that checks every box—except the one that matters most:
“This is for me.”
The human brain is wired to reject anything confusing, generic, or calorie-burning.
And if your message doesn’t cut through fast—your leads don’t keep reading.
Not because your business isn’t amazing.
But because your words didn’t make them feel understood.
Didn’t show them the problem.
Didn’t show what’s at stake if the problem goes unresolved.
Didn’t show how you guide them toward the outcome they want.
This is the myth of clarity.
It’s not how clear it sounds to you.
It’s how fast your audience sees themselves in it.
