đŸŸ© Most ads are wallpaper—this one wasn’t

Hi ,

Most ads are wallpaper.

Pretty. Pleasant.

And totally forgettable.


I used to think I couldn’t stand ads.

Turns out—I just couldn’t stand boring ones.


Then I met someone who changed that for me.

I’ve always been interested in advertisements, and this was an enjoyable conversation for me.


He was a brand expert and a wordsmith—sharp, seasoned, and the kind of guy who could write a line that made you stop breathing for a second.


He’s no longer with us, but I still remember something he told me about a campaign he did for Kodak.


You know the usual stuff—smiling people, warm light, maybe a golden retriever in the background.

All very
 safe.

All very
 same.


His version?

Kodak yellow background.

High-definition photo of a roll of film.

And one line at the bottom:


“This summer, ‘shoot’ your friends.”


That’s it.


And I’ll be honest—my brain lit up.

It had teeth. It had personality.

It made me realize: clever isn’t cute.

It’s effective.


Because bland blends in.

But bold? Bold gets remembered.


That conversation shifted how I see creative work—especially in an industry where everyone is playing it safe, hoping to stand out by following the same script.
