I was logging into a site the other day when that little checkbox popped up:

“Prove you’re not a robot.”

I clicked it, as usual.

But for the first time, it made me pause.

With AI everywhere lately—writing articles, reading scripts on YouTube, powering bots, tools, agents—it feels like we’ve flipped the script.

Sometimes I look at a piece of content and think,

“This thing should prove to me that it’s not a robot.”

Don’t get me wrong.

I love progress.

I use AI. I experiment with tools. I geek out on what’s possible.

But I also see the flip side:

Faceless, soulless content.

Stuff that feels mass-produced and mildly hollow.

The kind of thing that leaves you wondering, “Was there a real human behind this?”

That’s what the CAPTCHA got me thinking about.

Because real connection—actual human presence—matters.

Maybe more than ever.

So here’s a little rule I follow for myself:

I never use AI to draft my ideas.

Only to refine them.

The raw thoughts, the voice, the weird metaphors—that’s all me.

The cleanup crew is where AI steps in.

Just a small way to stay human in how I create.

Not perfect. Not polished.

But real.
