đźź© I kept getting ghosted

Hi ,
I used to walk into networking conversations thinking,
“Okay, let’s impress them.”
So I’d talk. A lot.
About my background.
My work.
My passion.
All the things I thought would make people want to refer me or work with me.
But instead of new clients, I got nods.
Polite smiles.
Maybe a vague “Let’s stay in touch.”
Then… nothing.
I left those conversations confused, replaying what I said,
wondering if I came off as too much—or not enough.
It was exhausting.
And honestly, a little humiliating.
I knew I was good at what I did.
But I didn’t know how to show it in the kinds of conversations where decisions and referrals actually happen.
I felt invisible.
Like I was playing a game I didn’t understand the rules to.
And yet—I kept telling myself,
“This is just how networking works. It’s hit or miss. Just keep showing up.”
But over time, that story stopped holding up.
Because showing up wasn’t enough.
Being “nice” wasn’t enough.
Even being competent wasn’t enough.
I started to notice something painful:
Other people—less experienced, less talented—were getting referred more.
Landing the gigs.
Getting the attention.
Not because they were better at the work.
But because they were better at the conversation before the work.
That realization hit me hard.
And it pushed me to ask:
What’s really going on here?
What am I missing?
...
I’ll tell you what I discovered—and what changed everything for me—in tomorrow’s email.
Talk soon.
