From Meh to Memorable: 5 Quick Sentences to Transform Your Conversations

Where are you?
... At a networking event.
Why are you there?
... To make new connections.
Why do you want new connections?
... There's a chance you'll get new business from some of these conversations.
But not much of that is happening.
You've attended many events and had many "coffee" meetings.
Something is not clicking in place.
You find yourself talking too much. Or sometimes not enough.
And you feel you are all over the place.
People seem disinterested.
The conversation feels generic ... just meh.
One reason for this is that neither you nor the other person can confidently see where the conversation is going.
You need to deeply understand your target market.
And most people understand their market well enough.
But would you say you communicate what you know clearly?
Short and to the point? No fluff?
Most people don't.
Most people can talk about their market and its challenges.
But not clearly, short and to the point.

Just say 5 sentence. Then stop talking.
Until they say something or ask a question.
Your 5 sentences should answer these 5 questions about your ideal clients.
1- Who are they?
2- What do they want?
3- Why do they want that?
4- Why don’t they have it yet?
5- What do you suggest they do about it?
Example:
1- I work with fractional executives and consultants.
2- They want reliable results from their business development activities.
3- To pay the bills and provide a stable income for their loved ones.
4- Business development is a skill with too many moving parts and needs to be done consistently.
5- They should have a clear and strong Unique Value Proposition (for more about UVP check out yesterday's email)
