🟩 Don’t skip the easy rounds

Hi ,
I stumbled across this video of Olympic boxer Tony Jeffries answering a simple question:
“Is it even worth sparring with someone less experienced than you?”
You’d expect a quick yes or no.
Instead, he paused.
Then he said something that stuck with me.
He explained that yes — it can be valuable —
but only if you know what you’re working on.
It’s not about how good the other person is.
It’s about what you choose to focus on during the round.
And I thought: You can grow in low-stakes situations — if you approach them with purpose.
In business, we often dismiss “smaller” opportunities:
- An interview with a tiny podcast
- A sales call with someone who probably won’t buy
- A collaboration with someone less established
- But with intention, those moments become practice grounds.
They’re not “beneath you.”
They’re reps.
Spaces to test new messaging, refine your pitch, practice storytelling, or just connect without pressure.
Every interaction is a training ground —
if we treat it like one.
That little shift in mindset?
It changes everything.
