🟩 How I lost a referral I should’ve landed

Hi ,
I want to tell you about a problem I ran into,
how I decided to do something about it,
and how that led to an event I’m inviting you to.
A few years ago, someone in my network posted that they needed help with a project.
It was one of those moments where you think,
“This is exactly what I do.”
I’d worked on similar things before.
I knew I could help.
And I had a strong relationship with the person asking.
But by the time I saw the post,
the comments were already full.
A few people had offered to help.
Others had tagged names.
Plenty of recommendations
and not one of them was me.
It stung.
Not in an ego-driven way.
Not because I thought I deserved the gig.
But because I realized something kind of painful:
I wasn’t being remembered.
I’d done the work.

I had the experience.
But when it came time for someone to refer me,
my name didn’t come up.
That moment shifted something in me and I decided to do something about it.
Because being good at what you do isn’t enough.
You have to be visible.
You have to be remembered.
And you have to make it easy for people to refer you.
