Happy Monday!


I really want to send good vibes because right now there is just too much negative energy flowing through the world.


MEDITATION

This week has been tough for me, no lie. Advocation that a DO degree is just as valuable as an MD, discussing the Wear Figs fiasco, and being on night shift for longer than I was expecting to be - I am drained!


But what can I honestly control? I know I can't control the media outlets. I can't control the Wear Figs marketing directors. I can't control the health of my other co-residents which puts me on additional days for night float.


I can control my attitude and mindset towards every situation. And SO CAN YOU! Sit with yourself in silence and run through your emotions. Write them down if you need to. Understanding why your anxiety increases, why you think negative thoughts, why you feel a certain way is so important to being human. And with greater understanding comes greater control.


FIND THE SILVER LINING IN EVERY SITUATION.


WEIGHT LOSS

In the past 3 weeks, I have lost 6 pounds, unintentionally. Here is the secret:

  • Your quality of sleep is way more important than your quantity. Sleeping an incredible 5 hours vs. 10 hours of crapy sleep will allow you to be awake and get your metabolic rate going.
  • Make more smoothies that are loaded with protein, greens
  • Go to bed slightly hungry
  • Mix in your cardio with your muscle building days. Currently I am doing 3 days/week of suspension training. In between those days, I either run or do yoga/breath work.

Note: I do not believe in the calorie in vs calorie out model. Sure, it will work initially because your body is confused and will need to keep up with energy metabolism, but after a few weeks you probably want to increase your calories and your intensity of workouts.


Once I complete this suspension training program in 2 weeks, i will increase my calories and being heavy weight lifting. I will keep ya'll updated!
