Good evening !

Happy hump day and congrats for making it half way through this awesome week!

Let's delve into it, shall we?

PODCAST RECOMMENDATION:

Derek Sivers podcast. Life lessons from someone who has lived an unconventional life.

I actually sent him an email and he replied back to me - he replies to everyone. Check out his podcast episode called "Cold Email Outreach"- Lots to learn from it in terms of communication via email. Below is the email

And now he follows me on twitter!

SLEEP:

Honey and Apple cider vinegar mixed with hot water = zzzzzz

This concoction really helps since it contains serotonin and tryptophan!

FITNESS:

I hit my personal record on bench press - 205lbs x 4 reps

Suspension training is really helping me train my smaller stabilization muscles but also giving my joints time to relax. Use suspension training if you need a break/change up!

NEW READ:

I just finished up Grit by Angela Duckworth and gave it a 9.4/10. You can see the full review on my instagram (@doctor.darsh).

I am currently reading Made To Stick, which is about becoming a great story-teller and figuring out how to make ideas catch on. Something that is definitely helpful in medicine where there is so much information that needs to be conveyed!

PREMED CORNER:

If you're premed, welcome. I decided to add this topic since there are so many that follow me.

It's interview season and heres some interview tips!

  1. Don't be scripted. Be structured. AKA don't memorize your answers. Instead, have bullet points in your head and create a theme so with any question you know what direction you want to take the conversation
  2. Make sure to have light in the room facing you! Buy an influencer ring light honestly.
  3. Keep water next to you. You will get a dry mouth, trust me.
  4. Make sure your laptop is charged and apps are on mute.
  5. Don't worry if something goes wrong. iI's a virtual world and it's bound to.
  6. Dress up well (even though it's through Zoom). I prefer darker suits (not black). Blue tie gives a calming effect but you can wear a tie representing the schools colors.

That's all for this week's newsletter. Hope you got some value :)

Feel free to message me on instagram with any questions! I'm here to help!

Love,

Dr. Darsh
