Hi ,
Welcome back to Refuel 🔥, your weekly space to pause, reset, and reconnect with your body, your energy, and what matters most.
Because running on empty was never the plan. 💜
This week has been one of those weeks that reminds me why I love what I do so much.
Full classes.
Great conversations.
Lots of questions about Somalates.
And plenty of those little moments where someone suddenly realises their body feels different… in a good way.
Those are the wins that matter.
Let’s dive into this week’s pitstop.
🔥 THIS WEEK’S FOCUS: LISTENING TO THE BODY, NOT PUSHING IT
There’s been a real theme in classes lately, learning that progress doesn’t always come from doing more.
Sometimes it comes from:
• releasing tension
• moving more intelligently
• supporting recovery
• giving the nervous system space to reset
That’s exactly why I love teaching Somalates® alongside Pilates.
It allows the body to shake off stress, build strength without strain, and reconnect to how movement should feel.
And judging by the feedback this week… your bodies are loving it too.
💬 QUESTION OF THE WEEK
“What is the shaking you do in Somalates and why does it feel so good?”
That gentle shaking isn’t random.
It’s a natural way the body releases stored tension from the muscles and nervous system.
You might notice:
• warmth in the muscles
• deeper breathing afterwards
• feeling lighter or calmer
• less stiffness the next day
Animals do this instinctively after stress.
We just forgot how.
Shaking helps the body come out of fight-or-flight and back into balance.
And for midlife women especially, that reset is powerful.
⚡ MINI WELLNESS BOOST (2 MINUTES)
The Shake + Soften Reset
Try this once today:
• Stand with feet hip-width apart
• Gently bounce through the knees
• Let the arms hang loose
• Allow a soft shake through the body
• Take 3 slow breaths when you stop
You’re not doing it wrong if it feels odd.
You’re reminding your nervous system that it’s safe to let go.
🌿 RECOVERY TIP: MAGNESIUM FOR SORE MUSCLES
A few of you asked this week about muscle soreness after class.
One simple support I often recommend is magnesium spray.
Magnesium can help with:
• Muscle relaxation
• Sleep quality
• Reducing cramps
• Nervous system regulation
A few sprays on legs, shoulders, or lower back before bed can make a real difference.
It’s not magic, but it’s a lovely support, especially if you’re training, walking more, or rebuilding strength.
🌿 MIDWEEK WELLNESS NOTE: NMN & WOMEN OVER 45
Another question that came up this week was about NMN supplements.
NMN (Nicotinamide mononucleotide) is linked to cellular energy production, which can naturally decline with age.
Some women use it to support:
• Energy levels
• Recovery
• Focus
• Healthy ageing
It’s not essential, and it’s not for everyone, but it’s one of the supplements currently being explored for midlife vitality.
As always movement, sleep, protein, and stress balance come first.
Supplements support the basics.
They don’t replace them.
🌿 WHAT’S COMING UP (AND WHAT’S NEW!)
🌙 Pilates After Dark — 8/4/26
The next Pilates After Dark is now open for booking.
This one is already quietly filling.

✨ CLASSES THIS WEEK
Another brilliant week of classes.
Strong movement.
Steady progress.
Lots of laughs.
And a few wobbly legs along the way.
Exactly how it should be.
Just a reminder that many sessions are now filling up, so booking ahead really helps secure your space.
✨ SOMALATES® UPDATE
The interest in Somalates has been amazing lately.
So I’m still exploring the best time to launch a regular class.
If you haven’t completed the poll yet, I’d really appreciate it as it helps me build classes that actually fit your life.
There’s something very special about this method, and I can’t wait to share more of it with you.
✨ International Fitness Showcase — Blackpool (20th-22nd March)
At the end of March, I’ll be presenting Somalates® at the International Fitness Showcase in Blackpool.
To say I’m nervous is an understatement, but I’m showing up as it’s something that can help more people 💕
If you’d love a day of learning, movement, energy, and a little seaside air you’re so welcome to join and experience the class live.
It’s going to be a special one.

💜 A NOTE FROM ME
This week reminded me that wellness isn’t about perfection.
It’s about noticing what helps.
A shake that releases tension.
A class that makes you stand taller.
A good night’s sleep.
A conversation that makes you feel understood.
Small things. Done consistently.
That’s what changes how we feel.
Tip of the Week:
If your body feels tight, tired, or wired, don’t push harder.
Try releasing first, then rebuilding.
It works far better.
Love + wellness,
