A Fresh Coat of Paint
Painted for Pride
I stopped by a client’s house this weekend. She had just taken possession of her new home, which we secured in an off-market deal. The seller was the original owner, so it had lots of those "lived in for years" vibes. Pink walls, wallpaper and borders, older carpeting. You know what I’m talking about. It just felt... dated.
Nothing was technically wrong with it, but it definitely needed a makeover.
Wow! It’s amazing what a fresh coat (or three) of paint can do. The place looked brighter, felt cleaner, and even seemed bigger. My client seemed super happy with how it was all turning out.
No, the paint didn’t magically add square footage, but it made the home feel more spacious. Kind of like when you were a kid walking out of the shoe store. Those new sneakers didn’t really make you run faster or jump higher, but you sure believed they could, didn’t you?
Painted for Purpose
Another seller I worked with took my advice during the pre-listing phase and had the entire house re-painted. The house sold for full price the first weekend it was on the market. My go-to painter even returned after the movers had finished to touch up a few scratches and scuffs left behind in their rush to load the truck and head for Texas.
So what aspects of your business could benefit from a fresh coat of paint?
We probably don’t need to break out the scaffolding or haul out the ladders. But it might be smart to stretch out a little painter’s tape, lay down some proverbial tarps, and grab a clean brush or roller.
It won't take too long, and once it’s done, everything is bound to look a whole lot better.
