Hi

Hello to all my readers and friends around the world and a very warm welcome to new subscribers who may not have heard from me until now. For that I apologise unreservedly – life has been somewhat chaotic in recent months and an unnoticed failure in technology meant your names didn’t get added to my newsletter list. 

As you can probably tell, techonology is not my strongest suit. Add in a global pandemic, health issues, an abrupt change of house when we were flooded out, and required study for my day job, and somehow, I just missed you. I’m very happy that you’re here at last – welcome!

At the moment I’m juggling writing, recording and organising the launch of Out of the Ashes for August 4, all of which are keeping me busy. I’ve begun recording the audio version of the book in my little studio in the Harry Potter cupboard under the stairs. It’s the first time I’ve recorded a book, and I’m learning as I go. It’s surprisingly tiring! But rather fun. I hope to have it ready in the next couple of months and I’ll keep you updated on its progress.

I’ve also begun work on the sequel to Out of the Ashes, which I think will be called The Dreams We Left Behind. Strictly speaking, it isn’t actually a sequel, in that the two books cover the same period, but it follows the story of one of the characters from the first book and so the novels overlap. I also plan to write a third book, which will be set after the end of the war. I’ve begun researching for them both and once I finish recording the audio version of Out of the Ashes, I’ll get stuck into writing.

In my last newsletter I mentioned that I would have some Advance Review Copies available. If you would like one, please let me know. I would love for you to be the first to read it! Book of the Month.

Lilac Girls by Martha Hall Kelly.

I know I’m a little late to the party with this one, but wow – it was definitely worth the wait! What an extraordinary story! Alternating between the narratives of three women whose fates are inextricably linked to the horrors of the concentration camp at Ravensbruck, the novel is based on a true story. Highly recommended.
